Hi,

Do I need to renew my passport after marriage, in order to travel within US? Or can i travel with my old passport and renew it with the name change when the AOS is done? (My passport expires 2022)

I want to visit my fiancé's parents in South Carolina for Christmas, but am worried I won't have enough time to renew passport before the trip.

Any help regarding this would be so appreciated. Thank you!

As far as I know, you can travel with your old passport, marriage cerificate and NOA2 until you get your green card.

Really???? I can't imagine being bored in NYC haha :D You should watch 90 days fiance on TLC and shake your head haha
Nah, surprisingly I'm really not bored at all. Finding myself something to do, sometimes Skype my bestie in Germany, that's it!

I need to start hassling with AOS finally, but I can't get going haha

@Eric&Olya: Congrats, next step done! :)
I got my military ID yesterday, so at least something done, and I have access to some German food now haha

Thanks:)

Familiar food sounds wonderful, I'm trying to persuade Eric to go to a Ukrainian village which is about 45 min drive from here, because I've been struggling with cooking since I came, everything is so different.

I'm far from being bored too, I have to continue studying, and my little monkeys started school, and there's always some housework:)

Yay to hear of the upcoming POEs and interviews etc. :)

Well I am gonna travel down to the SSA office. The bus sorta gets close to it, a 15 minute walk close. Wish me luck on getting my SSN. Seems to be hit or miss on whether you can or not which seems strange as its a national service not a state service. *rolls eyes*

My fiance's coworkers are jealous because everyday this week he has had home-cooked leftovers for his lunch. On Monday and Tuesday I sent him with BBQ ribs, potatoes and zucchini. Wednesday I sent him with a pork chop, applesauce and salt potatoes and today I sent him with roast beef, potatoes and zucchini. One said tell your fiance she needs to start sending us food too. LOL

Good luck with your SSN! Do print out that page from the guide where K-1 is listed as eligible to get one.

I am jealous of your nice food too :P Here I haven't found good meat yet but today we are going to a real butcher's shop.

Update: My fiance finished his Sputum testing last week. I felt so bad for him... he had to go three days in a row after the medical and give the samples. His throat was so sore from coughing that he could barely talk. Now he's been sick and hardly has a voice. That in addition to the awful pollution situation in Delhi right now has taken a toll on him. But at least the testing is over and now we just wait until the 5th of January when the results come in. I've never waited so much in my life!

I feel so depressed having to spend another holiday season without him. I kept telling myself all year, "at least he will be here for the holiday's this year!" Every other day I have breakdown and feel so upset that this has taken so long, but there's nothing we can do to change it which is actually the most frustrating part. We have been apart from each other for like 4 years so I know two more months is nothing in comparison to that, but right now it feels like forever!! :(

I officially cancelled the wedding venue which was planned on Jan. 27th and instead we are going to just get married at the court when he finally gets here. Then maybe we'll have the ceremony later next year. Blah. I went from being so excited about everything to barely getting by each day. I hope it gets easier....damn you holiday season.

The Dalai Lama, when asked what surprised him most about humanity, answered "Man.... Because he sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health. And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; the result being that he does not live in the present or the future; he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived."

Oh yeah, the cooking is challenging, mostly because of the measurements being unused. I feel like I'm taking forever for everything! :D:D
Also I'm still identifying food and other stuff... once I found out what what is it'll be better haha.

But I've switched to regular dinner cooking, so Scott gets his Lunchbox for work every day. Good housewife haha

@KozmicBlues: Feel a big hug! It's a really shootty situation you're in and I can totally understand you being depressed. I won't say hang in there, because that's not appropriate anymore after such a long time. Try to stay strong, you're running through a test as a couple, and once this awfulness is over you'll have the ever after thing coming up and won't have to go through that again. Best wishes for your fiancé to get better!
You'll rock it! Believe and shine on! :)

After waiting for just over 4.5 hours in the SSA office my number was called. The lady I talked to said I have the patience of a saint. So I left this morning at 9am got there at 10:30 and left there at 3:35 and just got home at 4:45. Yes I will get my SSN in a week to ten days. :D My sweet fiance said "Babe no need to cook tonight let's go out to celebrate you getting SSN". How could I say no to that. HAHA Just gotta do the dishes and wait for him to be home in an hour and a half. Good thing too I am starving. I didn't get lunch because I was at the SSA office waiting. lol

No we live in Colorado Springs, CO. The lady I was sitting next to and looked at my number and laughed. She said you won't get until almost closing time because you are a new number. They take everyone else first. She was right. I shouldn't have to wait so long getting my name changed. LOL I hope. When I came to the ssa office there was a line out the door. They said they can only fit 75 people in the building at a time. So you wait just to get in. Apparently people were waiting out the doors at 7am and they open at 8am.

omg , this reminds me my home country at the time of the communist era, when we used to line up for groceries or other services, basically for everything that was involving making a purchase or getting a government service..

Never Janet. :) I had been following your case and was super excited to see that you finally got approved. :D Woohoo November 15th is so close now. You are always welcome here with us crazy and sometimes whiny Marchies. :D

My husband would be jealous too! I don't cook meat so the "poor" guy has been forced to turn into a mostly- vegetarian lol

Good thing you got your SSN.  I hope I don't have a wait like that when I go to change the name on mine!

I cook a lot of vegetarian stuff too and I think my fiance eats more veggies now which is good. His general practitioner has asked to meet the woman who has brought his A1C down to pre diabetes range of 6.3 when he has been off the charts for years. I will meet her next week when we go for his 4 month checkup. lol I actually got him to eat CAULIFLOWER!!!

Oh god I hope I don't have to wait that long when I go back to change mine. Least I know how to get down there by bus now so it will be easier next time. lol We are going to the DMV next week to see if I can get my CO driver's license thank goodness for Canada having an agreement with Colorado so I don't have to do any testing. WHEW. Also excited cause licenses are so cheap down here. In Manitoba I was paying 40 a year. lol Although with all my merits it would be less next year. lol
