: Congratulations to your super smooth POE! Glad to read you and Pixie being home! Now rest, get settled and enjoy! :)

We are resting for sure. I woke up to both my fiance and my cat snoring away. hahaha Unfortunately my fiance is having a bad IBS day. It happens. We are currently working on changing his diet so it will take time for him to have less of those days. His doctor was already pleased because I have helped him so much with his diabetes. He kinda just wasn't taking care of himself before we got together because he didn't care anymore about himself. Now he is not only back on track but his A1C is sitting in prediabetic range. It used to be off the charts. His doctor diagnosed him with IBS a month ago although I already had given him that diagnosis and was helping him eat better. I knew one of his triggers. Right now we are going to go on the Low FODMAP diet plan for IBS and other gut issues. Basically it cuts out onion, garlic and lots of other things but so many things are fine. Last night I made us each a chicken thigh, pan fried in olive oil potatoes and green beans. :) His issue today stems from eating out on the weekend. I am still working on him to make right choices there. lol I also am not 100% today. I have a horrible headache but it could either be I need caffeine or Altitude sickness has hit me. I went from a 500 above sea level to 6000 above sea level. Last time I was here it only lasted a few days before I got acclimatized.

We had snow yesterday but it is supposed to get to 11C today, yes you Americans I have a problem with Fahrenheit lol. Tomorrow we are supposed to be 20C and then 19C on Thursday. Woohoo for this Canadian thats shorts weather. HAHAHAHA

Luck of the draw, I think, but JFK is getting a bad reputation for being jerks to K1's.  Newark is just across the river and they were so professional.  I can't wait for your POE, you have waited so patiently thru so many delays........

Thank you so much for everything! Can't wait for it too. It took us really long.

Meanwhile I've finished my work in Kiev, packed all my bachelorette stuff and moved to Lviv to my parent's house.

Here I'll spend coming three weeks to POE and from here I'll start my flight to my beloved.

Oooooooolyaaaa!!! :D
First of all: Thank you for your sweet words on my pic, and now: WELCOME TO THE USA!!! I'm so glad you made it finally! You do look exhausted, but I understand... I looked the same! :)
Get some rest and start the new life, it'll be fabulous! All the best for you and Eric!
A pain you missed the flight :(
How long was the stopover? I've never done shorter stopovers than 3,5 hours, to be safe. Was enough all the time!

Thank you! I actually looked worse before the flight, and unfortunately I'm still sick:(

Our stopover was 2.5 hours, too short. We did realize that our chances are quite slim, but we missed the flight because all the employees we had to deal with were extremely slow. Anyway, we are here now, struggling with the school enrollment. There is an online form that I have to fill out before making an appointment, but it never occured to its creators that children can come from abroad, so there's no way for me to complete all the required fields. I'll just have to go there tomorrow without any appointments, I guess. Yay bureacracy:angry:

They asked for the taxes for last year and my fiance's w2s and then she said if I had anything else she would gladly take it so I gave her pay stubs for the last three of my fiance's pay periods and also handed over a letter from his employer stating how long he has worked for them and how much his salary is a year.

Thank you thank you!!!

hello everyone!

I am so glad I ve seen so many pictures from POE and/or wedding...so many good news.

I am preparing the AOS folders.. Is anyone  in the same situation ?

We started to fill out the paper work for AOS and are going to sit down this weekend to hammer the rest out. Honestly, between the K-1 and wedding planning haven't had a lot of time to look at AOS. Does anyone know if there is a guide that shows what supporting documentations is needed for each of the forms that we are filing (AOS, AP, permission to work)?

Has anyone else had trouble getting a SSN?

We went to the social security administration today, and it looked as if they had no idea what I wanted from them. The guy was trying to persuade me that I can only apply after getting my EAD, and didn't want to take into account that I need this stupid number to get married and apply for EAD. I finally managed to persuade him to double check, and he reluctantly processed my papers. So, if anyone here is going to apply for a SSN in a little town, where they don't probably deal with many K-1s, be persistent:) Eric was ready to leave immediately after hearing that I could not get the number, but I was more determined:)

Also, it could be state specific, but the social security officer didn't even want to look at my I-94, and he needed my alien registration number, so it was great that I had my NOA2 with me, just in case.

I haven't bothered with that yet as I was just gonna wait until we got married so I could just put my married name on it right away. Here I just need to show my passport if I do not have the SSN to get the marriage license so not too worried. I have a bank account here already using my foreign id and they just told me once I get SSN we can add that in.

Hopefully someone has something to say. LOL I know it depends on the office but honestly its a whole nation thing they all should be the same. :P Silly SSA.

That's so convenient that you can get the license without the SSN! Unfortunately, here in Ohio the rules are different.

I would still double check if it's ok to apply with your married name, I think I've seen it somewhere on VJ that people who did that were having issues.

Eh well Why wouldnt it be. You have to change it afterwards. But whatever. I don't need it nor can I get to an office because I have no car. I can't work for six months anyway. Shrugs. I might just do it when I get the EAD. Again everything will be in my married name so if they don't want to give it to me then whatever.

Yeah, that's a nuisance that without a car you are totally helpless here.

T-minus 11 hours until my fiance's medical appointment. I'm so nervous I can't even focus at work!!! And forget me being able to sleep tonight while he's off to the appointment! Please everyone pray for us that his results comes back fine and he doesn't have to go through additional sputum testing!! He had TB like 10 years ago when he was 17, but doesn't have any medical records since it was in his tiny hometown where he got the treatment. God, I just hope it will be fine!! The thought of the process being delayed 2 more months and postponing the incredible wedding I've been planning breaks my heart!

The Dalai Lama, when asked what surprised him most about humanity, answered "Man.... Because he sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health. And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; the result being that he does not live in the present or the future; he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived."
