Sorry if this question seems stupid, but I am reading the guides and tips and I still don't get what is the differenece between the SSN and the EAD??

I thought anybody that was willing to work legally in the US needed a SSN...not an EAD???

How long does it take for the fiance to get a permit to work here?

Another question.....I know the AOS is filed to a central office and from there it goes to a local office....is there a way to know what is my local office?? there are so many different offices in NY and NYC...how to know?

Thank you :help:

You need to be authorised to work, which is what a EAD demonstrates.

SSN is a Social Security Number, often misused for other purposes.

You can check the timelines but EAD's I believe about 3 months.

I believe JFK is stamping still which gives a K1 90 days employment authorisation from entry.
