Is Houston a bad POE? Airline agent & one way ticket?

I have been reading the POE entry reviews and though Houston is closest to where I live, the reviews are notably worse in terms of experience.  Surly, rude and badgering CBP agents on top of 3 & 4 hour waits are noted more often than not (though no outright rejection). Coming from a country where the police are abusive, my husband gets  reflexively nervous around officials,  so I'm seriously considering using Fort Lauderdale or Dallas at the extra cost (I bought tickets already but they were inexpensive).  Am I being paranoid or is it worth it?  Not happy about the extra cost, but it's within budget.

I also wonder if he should get a return ticket to throw away.  I'm not concerned about CBP with this (CR1 visa), but the airline agent at the departing airport.  I didn't think of this until an airline website gave me static for purchasing a one way ticket. I've had all levels of competence with agents, so I am kind of worried about entrusting them to know what they are looking at.  Is it worth another $100 just to satisfy the agent's screen prompts?

My wife's POE was Dallas (DFW).  It was was smooth and pleasant. It took about 90 minutes, including time for the agents to count the cash she brought into the country.

Good Luck..

Unnecessary to purchase a return ticket. Total waste of money.

Review posts aren't the end all be all.  Remember people are more likely to write a review of a bad experience when their angry or upset. Many don't write a review at all.
