I don't know. Some dads have explosive tempers but it doesn't mean they don't love their kids. If lil Ireland is used to that kind of talk, she probably wouldn't have been too upset. I guess it was out of line, but not shocking, play-it-on-the-radio out of line. But that's just my opinion.

If you just listen to this tirade as is it's easy to make the snap judgement that that was way out of line etc. However, we just don't have any context for this. We have no idea how the child behaves, essentially we know nothing about this torn family and yet we are sitting here trying to decide whether this voice mail is acceptable or not?

What is clear to me is this is not news and should never have been broadcast...but ratings win every time. People's insatiable appetite to know every minutiea about people's lives instead of living their own...

I agree it doesn't mean he doesn't love his kid or that he is a terrible father. He has a temper though and I think he crossed the line. it just felt so humilating, dominating abusive....he was trying to hurt her by using hurtful words. If not child abuse, then at best it very very bad parenting. Just my opinion too!

How do we know he was trying to hurt her? Isn't it equally likely he was trying to put across the idea that to deliberately not take calls from her own father is at the very least rude? Of course, again, we don't know if he always talks like this to her on the phone. We just don't know enough here people.

I guess this is how I feel when commenting on his action. I have felt pushed to that limit, have said things that were not in the good parent handbook, I called my kid on bad behavior, but to use name calling? I can't imagine saying those things to any child.

Okay, I've listened to this and I'm going to agree with Alex here. I think he shouldn't have used the word sh!t or slagged off Kim but the tone of his voice I thought was no way near as bad as people make out. We don't know how many times he may have tried to get in touch with his daughter and she has failed to be available. If it's alot, I can understand his anger.

To be honest, I've probably told my son off in a more angry tone of voice than Alex Baldwin does there. To be honest, too many kids nowadays are tippytoed around because people don't want to upset them or don't know how to discipline them.

I never have, but I would bet there would be some suprises if I did. I am not saying it's right/wrong or anything else, but I do think it's not something we should have had access to or be able to make judgements on out of context.

I agree that it would be horrible to imagine that this is the way he constantly talks to his child, but I know nothing about it, just this one voice mail. It's not enough to make me say, hay, what an #######, or hay, this guys was doing the right thing.
