So hi guys,

Am going home in a few days. There are a few things i would like to consult to my fellow VJ members. It is my first time going back home after 2 years. Sfo-mla-dvo

1. Pasalubong/gifts- i am bringing prolly 10 victoria secret perfumes and lotions, chocolates, signature womens bag and purse, toys, shoes, shirts and jeans. Will i have an issue or,problem on that?

2. Anything i need to learn or tips anyone can give to me as at Sfo airport going in and out the USA? Is my PHL passport and greencard the only documents i need? Do i need to bring my sss card and company id from my work as well?

3. I am a LPR under F2b when I came here. I am single and my 2 children are with their mom and one of the reason I am coming home is to marry my gf so that i can start to petition them probably under f2a. Is this the right thing to do or just wait til i become a USC (3 more yesrs to go)and file a petition under cr1. Anyone?

Thanks in advance.

The liquid perfume may cause some issues since they are very strict on size restrictions/amount when it comes to liquids on planes now.  Depending on the amount, size, how it's packaged, etc. may result in it being confiscated at the airport.

Check the restrictions list on the air carrier's website for TSA regulations.

1. Pack those items in your checked luggage. When you enter the PI you have two choices list all the items for customs and pay the duty. $$$$ 👍 expensive!! Or walk through customs with out declaring the items. Many walk through without declaring their gifts and have no problems. Your choice.

2. SFO is not a difficult airport to get around so I don't expect you to have any problems.  Passport and Green Card is all you need.

3. I'm not well versed in this area so I'll leave someone to answer you.

You should have no issues, pack it all in your checked luggage, you do not need to declare it at NAIA if for "personal use" .. gifts are personal use. ;)

You will be fine getting married and filing the F2A, as a green card holder there are no issues with that.  If the petition takes longer and you acquire your citizenship before its priority date is active you can convert it to the CR-1 then there are no numerical limitations.

https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/immigrate/family/family-preference.html#8

"All categories of family preference immigrant visas are issued in the chronological order in which the petitions were filed until the numerical limit for the category is reached. The filing date of a petition becomes the applicant's priority date. Immigrant visas cannot be issued until an applicant's priority date is reached. In certain heavily oversubscribed categories, there may be a waiting period of several years before a priority date is reached. Check the Visa Bulletin for the latest priority dates."

Really?  This is good to know for my future travels, as I always thought the liquid regulations had to do with checked baggage as well.

My luck it would break open in my luggage from being thrown around by handlers.....I tend to keep that stuff in my carry on.

Although once my daughter when she was younger picked out the perfect "present" for her dad to bring back---a bottle of BBQ sauce with a cool label...got confiscated from my carry on for being larger than the regulated size by 1 ounce.

Daughter promptly burst into tears and started screeching when she realized she had no "gift" now.  TSA agent stared dumbfounded at her and for a moment looked like he was contemplating giving her the bottle back just to calm her down lol .

Next time now I know to put it in my checked luggage. :)

Nothing to pay, NOTHING to declare.   You don't declare personal use items.. customs agent at NAIA told me this years ago.   Gifts to family are personal use.
