I can't help but commenting on the fact the OP mentioned terror as committed by a 'muslim'.

The murders at the Murrah Building in Oklahoma City were in the name of a cause. The perpetrators were not muslim.

I believe most Americans don't associate race or religion with an act of terror.

Who says that? Most terrorists in the world claim to be Muslim. They have many photo-ops with the Qur'an. Most Muslims are not terrorists. Though their voices are drowned out by the much more vocal and violent portion of the religion. Why do terrorists choose Islam so much? No one ever attempts to answer that.

We know that now - given the terrible decision NBC made to give airtime to that guy's bullshit. Given that the guy referenced the Columbine killers it would seem (given the similarity in dates) that this is a copycat killing. Hence the worst thing they could possibly have done is turn it into a media circus.
