Applying for a SSN without an EAD

Hi,

I've been waiting over 180 days now for my EAD.

Long story short I recently discovered USPS lost it (although of course they say it was delivered!).

So Ive now had to apply for a replacement.

I now have this receipt. And Im told I can use this receipt to apply for work.

What I think will be harder is getting a SSN.

Has anyone tried or managed to get a SSN by showing the replacement receipts, together with the form that said the original I-765 EAD was approved and sent out?

Because it can't be humane expecting people to wait over 9 months without being able to legally work, just because USPS failed to deliver the mail.

Sidenote: Why the hell dont they make sure the document has to be signed for delivery? Money i guess.

One other question: Based on the above, has anyone ever managed to get their EAD replacement expedited?

These two appear to be applicable but not according to my lawyers. But surely these criteria are based on the first time you apply. Not the second, as I am doing - hence why I feel am in the extreme emergent situation / severe financial loss.

Severe financial loss to company or individual
•Extreme emergent situation
