I had the same phone conversation about a month ago and submitted a request to T&T about 3 times now with no reply.

Also, got this reply from Barbados today:

Dear Ms. K,

At this time we are only able to applications from people residing in our consular district.  Thank you for understanding.

EmilySF,

My understanding is that the Trump restrictions will "officially" be enforced as of the announcement date of said restrictions.  It was stated that if any part of your travel had been purchased prior to the date of announcement (November 9, 2017), including your flight, you would not be subject to the new restrictions but rather what was in place prior.  If I'm not mistaken, that means the Obama-era policy.  I am travelling there at the end of November.  I also purchased a flight for April, on Wednesday Nov 8, with that in mind.

I will be eager to hear what your experience is travelling and returning from there now.  I suspect things will go smoothly.  Keep us afloat!

I am even more eager to hear about any K1 folks who are being scheduled or who have undergone interviews in Bogota.

It's a long haul folks, but just a matter of time and perseverance.   Best wishes to all on the journey!

Scott

Hello all.

I am wondering about my fiancee getting her mail notifications in Cuba. I had this concern many months ago, so back on March 30th, I mailed her a simple letter and she never received it till this day. She thinks her neighbor may have gotten it, but it's uncertain. She spoke to the mailman and he claims that he slipped the letter under the gate in front of her house, but nothing has turned up since. I read up that there was PO Box type services in Cuba (according to the Cuban Post Office website) but when she went down to her local substation (in Arroyo Naranjo, La Habana) they told her that they no longer have this type of service, so we then decided to put a mailbox in front of her house. However, she scrapped the idea thinking that someone could still steal it somehow. Finally, she spoke to her mailman and they came to an agreement: he will notify her (ring her doorbell) whenever there was a letter for her. This seemed reasonable enough for me, so we let things be...until yesterday when I spoke to my cousin's wife.

My cousin's wife migrated from Cuba some years ago, and she explained to me that the mail service in Cuba is terrible and that sometimes there is up to a 2 month delay in getting mail, if it ever even gets there at all. She said that she ran into a similar situation when she was getting her visa ready and so she requested that the embassy send all of her correspondence to her husband in the US. She wasn't using a K1, but rather an IR1; she may have been using a K3, but not sure; only 100% sure she was using an IR1. That said, I'm wondering if that's possible for a K1 visa? It would make things so much easier. However, I have some doubts because I vaguely remember reading somewhere that certain notifications MUST be received by the fiancee and I'm also thinking that a husband and a finacee might not have the same rights.

Any thoughts?

Anyone seen this checklist: https://co.usembassy.gov/visas/immigrant-visas/fiancee-visa/the-interview/

Seems like they keep making things deliberately harder.

Also, anyone affected by the Trump Admin changes to US Citizens traveling to Cuba?

Isn’t a k1 visa concidererd nonimmigrant?  If so then we could choose any embassy that would take us.

Going to Columbia would be for immigrant visas.

But it if I’m wrong getting a visa for Cubans to go to Columbia is going to make this whole process a lot harder.

Hi, everyone! here's what I found today. It's in Spanish but hopefully it helps :) Hoping that this gets better for all of us soon.

I just got back from 2 weeks in Havana and I went under "Support for the Cuban People". I did not have any issues other than TSA searching my bags going to and from Cuba.

Did they ask you for an itinerary? I'm going in January with my parents so they can meet my fiance in person but I'm nervous now due to these new "rules".

No, they did not ask anything. I kept  receipts for the things I could and I wrote down everything and everywhere I went. The rules for "Support for the Cuban People" haven't changed much really. I had a fairly full time itinerary with a lot of people I have met. I helped make signs for a business, brought paint and art supplies for a local artist that works down there and spent a lot of time talking to business owners about their experiences with owning a business.  I tried to keep a full time schedule, like they asked, to stay legal under that category.

Awesome, do keep us posted. I just got back from Cuba tonight .. no new questions or anything out of the ordinary with travel. Getting tired of this spurts of intense relationship, ready to get this interview going and be regular already! Have a good night everybody!

For immigrant visas, the status changes to “At NVC” and the AOS fee disappears.
