Are you sure it changed to Immigrant? A k1 visa is a nonimmigrant visa. Have you called the Consulate?

It is normal for K-1s to change from non-immigrant to immigrant......

Have you read what I replied to? The person said they had an interview and were told to wait few days to receive their visa. They said when they check the system, they see their status as "immigrant". A K1 visa, or the I-129 F visa allows the Fiance(e) entry to the United States for one reason and only one; To marry their Fiance(e) and only that Fiance(e). If that does not happen, they must leave the US within 90 days. K1 Visa is nonimmigrant visa until marriage and filing for I-130 or the CR1. Until then, K1 visa holder is NOT an immigrant. And that s why I asked if the person was reading their Status correctly.

I am having the same issue in the Guangzhou consulate. Interview passed on Sept 11, case created Sept 12, and last update Sept 14- Administrative Processing but it does say Non-Immigrant Visa at the top. Does that mean it is close? We have no 221g

Yeah, that's why you can just sit back and wait for now :) When it changes to non-immigrant - administrative processing, that means the visa is very close to being issued.

Actually I was curious about this. Everybody says it changes to "non immigrant " and it goes back and fort from AP to ready. But mine never changed to "non immigrant". Also it went from "ready" before my interview to "AP" right after the interview and to "issued" right after the AP.

mine was IR visa though

There is no I-129F visa. :P The I-129F is a petition to permit applying for a K-class visa.

A K-1 entrant does not file an I-130 (unless they don't complete the terms of the K-1 visa by marrying the petitioner within 90 days, but do eventually marry them). They also don't need a visa since they are already in the US (visas are for entering the US). After entering on a K-1 visa and marrying the I-129F petitioner within 90 days, the intending immigrant can file for AOS to obtain LPR status.

A K-1 visa will switch between immigrant and non-immigrant as it is processed before it is finally issued. This is because it is processed by both the IV and NIV units at the embassy. The visa itself is non-immigrant, but it is processed like an immigrant visa for most of the ride.

Immigrant visas are processed entirely by the immigrant visa unit at the embassy. K-1s are a bit of a hybrid: most of the processing is done by the IV unit, but it still needs to go through the NIV unit since it is a non-immigrant visa. Going through AP/Ready/Issued is normal for an immigrant visa.
