B2 Tourist visas for my wif'e's parents

Last year, we tried to get tourist visas for my wife's parents who live in Guatemala.  My wife is a permanent resident.  Both parents are on fixed income(Retired).  They own a house and another piece of land.  They have two daughters and four grand kids in Guatemala.   They do have a bank account with enough money for the trip but not much more.  We put all this on the application and they were both denied for failure to prove they would return to their country.  Not sure what else we could provide especially since the consular officer didn't even look at any of the documentation they took with them.  Any suggestions?  Would an immigration lawyer be of any help?

Exactly...their ties were deemed insufficient by the CO. A lawyer can't do anything here.

 

In some time (at least a year), they can try again. Trying again much sooner is unlikely to be successful. Hopefully they can save up more money by then (having to spend your entire savings to go on one trip doesn't make much sense).

Suggestion: When it's time to apply again, have only one of the parents apply and visit the US. If only one parent applies for the visa, he or she will have more reason to return, if the other parent doesn't have a visa and stays in Guatemala.
