When to Schedule Interview after MNL#

We got our NOA2 on Sept. 5.  I called NVC yesterday, Sept. 18, and they provided us with the MNL number, which they said was assigned Sept. 14.  We completed the DS-160 yesterday as well, and had already paid the Visa application fee a few weeks ago.

We haven't yet received any info from the embassy.

Is it too soon to schedule an interview?  We scheduled one for September 29, but I'm assuming we will have to reschedule if the embassy doesn't receive our package from NVC by the end of the week.

Thanks for your help!

In all likely hood you are not going to get anything from USEM. If you had this is what they would send: https://ph.usembassy.gov/wp-content/uploads/sites/82/2016/08/K1-and-K2-Applicant-Interview-Preparation-Instructions-08112016-English-336KB.pdf

So right now you are in control of how fast or slow things move along. Use the letter as a check list and acquire all the documents asked for and follow their instructions.

For additional help use Hanks website for all things to do with processing a visa through USEM. Start here: http://www.visaconnection-philippines.com/k-1-visa-application.html

Return back here to get any additional help needed. If unsure, ask questions. Good luck.

You won't receive anything from the embassy of value, they mail out a welcome letter.. fact they use PhilPost should say a lot for how unimportant that letter is.

Status can be checked on the CEAC website, link to the CEAC website is near the bottom of the page which Greenbaum gave you the link.

odds are being your MNL was assigned last week that your case file will be at the embassy by the beginning of next week, so the 29th day should be good    (just a guess ;) )   If status on the CEAC website shows READY... you are burning daylight!  Get the interview scheduled and get the medical completed

It is never too soon to schedule an interview at all, you will not receive anything from the NVC or the embassy so don't worry about that all. 99% of the time you will never receive anything from the embassy because it goes through Philpost which as you know is not very good. So just keep doing what you are doing schedule your interview and get ready for medical.

Thanks, everyone, for your input.  I actually made a mistake, interview is for Sept. 27 (not 29).  Anyhow, I think we might keep that date, even though it might be cutting it close.  I called NVC today and they said they now send the documents electronically to the embassy.  So if they finish processing soon they should still be able to get to USEM before Sept. 27, or at least I hope.

Medical this Monday/Tuesday, then interview Wednesday.

Could be cutting it close.  The embassy will want the physical file there for the interview..   Do keep us posted, it would be good to hear back from you.

I am surprised the file is just now leaving NVC, but then they ship them in stacks not individually

Thanks. By your statement that the embassy will want the physical file for the interview, do you mean the file from St. Luke's? If so, I hope all goes well with the medical exam on Monday the 27th and the file can be transferred to the embassy for the interview on the 29th.  We're going to try to have her be one of the first people in St. Luke's line early Monday morning.   If I had it over I would have her do the medical Thursday or Friday of this week.  I just hadn't thought of the need to have the papers transferred between St. Luke's and the embassy.

I just spoke with NVC again, and they confirmed my file was electronically transferred to the embassy on Sept. 19.  So the embassy should have what they need from NVC.  Only problem is I'm not sure I'll have the letter from the NVC before Monday to provide to my fiancée for the St. Luke's medical (they send it through snail mail).  I asked them if they could email me a copy of the letter, and they said they would, but that it could take a few days.  You think it will be a problem if she only has the MNL number but not the NVC letter when she goes for the medical?

I guess I've been in too much of a rush and haven't thought this all through well enough.  It's just that we were trying to get her here for her birthday on Oct. 11.

Thanks for your help.

Yes, he means the medical file from St. Lukes. There have been cases in the past where someone went to the embassy interview and was conditional approved in lieu of medical, because for some reason or another they didn't send it over yet.

Don't forget she has to go to CFO as well. You guys are moving at a record pace good job for that, just make sure you do CFO ASAP so that she can be here for her bday.

No I was referring to to your petition case file that NVC is shipping to USEM, the embassy wants the physical file for the interview.  That is why I said you are cutting it close.

As for SLEC after the medical, if all went fine, they will give your fiancee her medical file to hand carry to the interview, so no worries there.  ;)

NVC letter isn't absolutely needed for the medical at SLEC.  Either the NVC letter or a copy of the interview confirmation (some make a copy of the CEAC showing their MNL # also)

http://www.visaconnection-philippines.com/medical---slec.html

There isn't any need to arrive at SLEC at O'dark-thirty and stand in line for hours.  Show up about an hour after they open and your fiancee will still get done just fine... with less waiting in line.  ;)

Do make sure to complete the pre-registration online

Thank you.  It wouldn't be possible without the help of you guys and this website!

About the CFO, can this be scheduled and taken before the Visa is in hand?

Yes that can be completed before Visa is in hand you would just need to get that certificate and take it to the airport and they will give you a stamp at the airport to go through immigration.

Thank you.  So far no one at NVC has mentioned anything about shipping the file to the embassy via snail mail; the two times I called they said the case file is sent electronically.

Glad to here about SLEC, i.e., being able to leave with the file in hand to go to the embassy interview.  She will take the NVC letter with her and I will have her print out the CEAC page showing the MNL and "Ready" status, along with the embassy interview confirmation printout.  She is already registered online and will bring the registration confirmation.

Also happy to hear about not needing to get to SLEC super early; she was none too please when I mentioned she had to get there at 4am!

Thanks again.

Great, thanks.  I will try to have her take the class in Cebu on the way back to Bohol.

My wife did the class in Cebu and she loved it. It was a lot better for her since she is from Davao.
