If you are sending $150 to $200 USD weekly then you are getting scammed.  You are only a ATM to her and her family.

Please don't send $6K USD there. I have built a house in Philippines and purchased one in the past.  For 10K peso is way too cheap.

Get away from this scammer and find someone else.  I have seen families who make the girl scammers so they can have money, I have seen Americans who live in Philippines and have their girlfriends scam guys for money and it is also not uncommon for a husband to have his wife out on the internet scamming for money.

Find a nice girl who doesn't ask for money, and whose family doesn't ask for money.   If they constantly need money then that is a red flag and time to run.   Girls and families who always need money are only scammers no matter if they are rich or poor.

I was concerned when I read the first post, however after reading the rest and seeing the pictures it seems reasonable. I would never send that much money and have someone pick it up. I would only send that much directly to a bank account. I have used Remitly for a while now ever since Hank suggested it in a post when I first started browsing these forums.

Best of luck to you.

No way I would keep over couple thousand in any Philippines Bank, Keep it in your US bank account and draw it out in the Philippines.

What is the PDIC limit on deposit guarantee, Around 10K USD last I checked.

Not always the case.

Being a little judgmental here. Most of us here are very well of the scammers in the Philippines. The OP has been warned.

I don't think anyone has discussed putting more than 10k USD in a Philippines bank.

I used Remitly for the first time last week.  I got a rate of 54 php to the dollar!!!  It was introductory and they also waived the fee.  It worked flawlessly.  They may be my new go to company for transferring money.

Remitly has an excellent Phone app as well.

Cinder block. It was about 2 years ago. Here are some pics of building it and mostly complete. The airccon was put in a few months ago in preparation for my trip. The AC and install was about 20k. The house is not a dream home by any means, I will build that soon. It is modest with 2 bedrooms, sari store, cr, and kitchen in the back. All of the walls are finished cement inside and out. One room and half of the exterior we did the finish cement at the time we did the AC so that was additional to what I paid to build the house originally.

If that 4K included septic system and electrical and plumbing then that was a steal.

Septic and electrical included. No running water or water heater, we get the water from a well.
