K1 Visa interview questions Amman Jordan

These questions were asked by my fiancee's interviewer.

1. What is your name?

2. What type of visa are you applying for?

3. Asked for Iraqi ID?

4. Asked for Iraqi Nationality Certificate?

5. How old are you?

6. Have you ever been married?

7. Has your fiancé ever been married?

8. Have you ever had kids?

9. Has your fiancé ever had kids?

10. Have you ever joined the Bath Party?

11. Where does your fiancé live?

•Note: My fiancé met a lady whose interview date was moved to an earlier date. This lady initially got her interview date about mid December last year. Her interview date was originally about mid July. It was moved to mid April. She stated that her interview went well, but since they moved up her interview date, she has to wait for 3 additional months before they would issue her the visa. The reason for this she was told was to complete the background security checks. Looking at the dates and when she initially got her original interview date it would be about 7 months. The same amount of time we wait for our interview. What I am trying to say is that it looks like even though her interview date was moved up it seems that it is still taking the Amman embassy the full 7 months to complete the process. This is just a word of caution to anyone whose interview date was moved up not to make any plans just yet, because your fiancée/fiancé may still be there for quite some time after the interview due to embassy not having enough time to complete the background security checks.

• I don’t quite know if this has any link to do with the above case, but I remember the Jordanian Princess’s interview date also being move up and having to wait for a while before the visa was issued due to security checks.

For anyone whose date has moved up I would email the embassy (Amman specific only) and see if the visa will be issued within 2 weeks upon a successful interview or you will have to wait longer due to a completion of a backgroung check.

Thanks for these questions!

Am I right in thinking the K-1 waits to do the checks until after the interview whereas if you're going in on the I-130 your checks have already been done before the interview?

ETA: Our date was issued Oct.9, 2006 and it was for June 18... the date was moved to April 24 which is still 6 months after the original issue date....

The K1 security checks as far as I know are done before the interview also.

It seems odd that Amman would move up the interview date while the security checks are not fully complete.

My fiancee and I waited the full 7 months for the interview so Amman had enough time to complete the security checks.

We were notified about our Interview date in about the 2nd week of Sept 09. The lady mentioned above had her interview notice in mid Dec 06. She even had her interview about a week before we had our interview. I would think that Amman would have also moved our date too, but didn't do so.

I am not too sure what is exactly going on at Amman, but the origional post is just my brainstorming as to why the lady may not have gotten her visa any sooner after her interview. I used the only 2 example I came across. The lady above and the Jordanian Princess only because their interview dates were move up and they had to wait for security checks to be completed. These 2 cases may just be the exception.

Hmmmm. I know as far as coming on the I-130 for Cr-1 and such your financials are all approved ahead of time at the NVC so we generally have all of that part DONE while K-1 and K-3 have a small wait for that (they claim it to be small, you know what I mean :) )

The thing to see about now I guess is if Irene gets her stuff going quickly. That will be a good indication on my case. I've heard Iraqis can take longer through Amman which was somewhat confirmed with Mandolin68's issues, but like you said JP had issues too...

The embassy originally told me that if my husband were to come on the K-3/129F part, there COULD be 4-8 weeks of additional processing after a successful interview. They never said anything about an I-130/Cr-1. So... not sure what to think.

Amman had our stuff a month before they issued his date, but I am sure that is the same for everyone. Good question!

We waited the full 7 months for our interview (told in March 06 that our interview would be October 06) the interview was not moved up and then it still took another 3 months after the interview for the security checks to b completed...so I don't think anyone EVER really knows what the Amman embassy is going to do or how long the ####### will take to be complete.....but for some reason Juliana, I think your husband's checks have already been completed...I'm not psychic but something tells me he will be getting his Visa within a couple of weeks after his interview. Good luck to you - just 4 more days!!! I am counting down to the 24th also...my fiance is scheduled to fly out of Amman on the 24th bound for Chicago! So Tuesday is a big day for us both.....I just pray they don't stop him at customs and stick his A$$ back on a plane to Jordan  .

I only mentioned this because I know some people plan their wedding closely after the interview date, and would be very dissapointed if they were told their fiance/fiancee will have to wait a few more months for security checks. The lady I mentioned earlier said her fiance visited her for the interview in hopes of flying back with her. Unfortunately she was given 3 more months for her security checks to be completed.

This post is just so some of the newer VJers would know that an interview doesn't always mean they will receive their visa right after the interview. It may take much longer.

Therefore, I think the best bet for folks would be to wait until after the interview to visit or plan their weddings.

To Juliana and your fiance we will keep you both in our prayers and the best of wishes to both of you for a successful interview and visa issuance there right after.

You know I keep getting that from people LOL! I hope so. I hioe he gets it as soon as possible. We've had an inceident come up and it's hilarious but bad. it's hilarious in the kind of sense like you had your arm recontrsucted after an accident only to have it severed in another one 6 months later. Ah, the irony.

thanks for adding this Julian - your observation makes alot of sense. Our situation is a little diff though, we were lucky in getting our initial interview on 2/28 for 5/10, so that's just 2 1/2 months. I told my fiance to expect a possible delay even after we get approved (inshaAllah), so I guess we'll all see.

Either way, Amman seems to ge efficient, maybe a little backed - up, but no horror stories like we see coming out of some of the other embassies.

Good luck to everyone with interviews coming up and thanks again Julian - keep us posted as to when your fiance gets the visa in hand and we can do the happy dance with you!
