Kind of like what the earth is doing today?  I mean there is a lot of debate and a lot of fascist mentality (punish the deniers or those that do not believe in scientific consensus), even labeling those that want to continue the debate in a derogatory manner, all for approximately 0.14% of approximately 0.03% of an atmospheric gas.

  My first 4 years of university I had one course in statistics, and that was the only course that wasn't pure science, so I have taken quite a few myself. I don't go around refering to myself as a scientist either. I'm not sure this is worth getting side tracked over.

I am leaving now for a week for the grand tour of Alaska.  I expect when I am there I will find definitive evidence the a new iceage has begun. I also expect Balz to have changed his vj handle to sheldon cooper because compared to the rest of us he is a rocket scientist.  Also if gj could find me those smokestacks with no co2 that would be a nice bonus.   Peace.

My point is that there are a lot of folks out there with enough scientific education (whether formal or not) to be able to speak intelligently on an issue.  It has been my experience that in the case of scientific items, the proof is in what can be definitively proven.  As to AGW or whatever else anyone wants to call it, the models used (es, I have used several of these models myself) are full of assumptions and in most cases cannot be proven experimentally.  If we say that only those that are identified as climatologists can be trusted to participate in some level of consensus building then I think we are shorting ourselves.
