Reading from the back of my SS Card, it says I should update my SSN and benefit record (if I am entitled) if my status as an alien in the US changes. I will need to file an application for a replacement SS Card and provide proof of my identity.

So even if nothing my my card needs to be changed, I still need to file https://www.ssa.gov/forms/ss-5.pdf?

If so, will I get a new SSN?

Thanks!!

you will not  get a new number. Just a replacement. Your SSN is for life. So the one you already have needs to be updated.
