I just paid for the expensive call center support in Manila. I asked "Can I use a co-sponsor on a K3 Visa?"

I explained that I am a full time college-student with a part-time job and that I can not support the person I applied for alone. That I wanted to use my mom as a co-sponsor to show that we had enough money to exceed the poverty guide lines. (which my mom does alone, by far)

The answer I got was no, you can't have a co-sponsor, but you can use other people to help prove your financial resources.

She was confusing to me, but I pushed for information and answers for awhile. This is what I got.

---

I wanted to know if I would just have my mom fill out an additional I-134 and she said it would not be considered for the application, that only mine would, so that is not necessary.

She also said that what I need to do is this. Attach a letter to my I-134 stating that I receive support from my parents, like free room and board, and that the same support is extended to the applicant. Also attach all the same financial documents for that person that the I-134 asks for. (bank statement, employment letter, tax records)

She said as long as I show I am getting additional support from my mom, and her support exceeds the poverty guide lines, than I am fine.

Now it does not make sense that they don't accept an official co-sponsor form but yet they take this kind of attached letter and proof.

So what should I do to be on the safe side?

a. Fill out two separate I-134's anyways.. including all the required financial documents for both of us.

b. Just submit mine, and attach the letter and required stuff she told me about in the phone call.

c. Do both of those, and also do an I-834 & A.. just to be on the safe side for everything.

d. Do all of A B and C and if we fail, just wait for CR1 interview where there is official form for co-sponsor?

I read a lot of threads about people and co-sponsor and stuff for the K3, but no solid info.

Anybody have any personal experience with this, or suggestions on what I should do?

we're almost in the same situation. but the difference is my husbands doesnt work right now cuz he wants to graduate in august since he got a lot of tough subjects. The CO considered his mom as co-sponsor but the problem was the income of moms not enough for us. so basically what CO wanted to see is my husbands income atleast to increase family's income
