starting the fiance visa process, and its for my fiance and daughter and wondering where to start, what the timeline looks like and what forms needed at the beginning.....

What country is your fiance and her daughter from? The average timeline for a K1 fiance visa is on average 9-12 months right now.

Kenya, and where do we start?

how long is the spouse visa?

The spouse CR-1/IR-1 visa is more than 12 months as of right now. Are you married or not? The K1 and CR-1 guides are below:

There are so many variables that each person on here who has filed for a K1 has gone through. Its hard for us to give you good advice. Is the daughter your daughter or your fiance's daughter? If it is your daughter you can file paperwork for the daughter to be a US citizen and that is easy.

Most consulates (ours was not Kenya) have many variations about what is customary, etc. There are advantages and disadvantages of the K1 and the CR1 - you have to figure out which is better for you. If it's ONLY about time, the K1 is probably the best, because it is the fastest, but it is more expensive and when your fiance is here, she cannot work, go to school (or sometimes even drive) until she adjusts status which can take 4-6 months. With the CR1 she can do all that from day 1 in the US.

If you fill out your profile thoroughly it should connect you to a "portal" for your country. Here is the one for Kenya: http://www.visajourney.com/portals/index.php?country=Kenya

You can read reviews others have had through the Kenyan consulate, talk to others who have specifically gone K1 or CR1 through Kenya, and see how THEIR specific timelines are running for the different visas.

Other things to consider which may be of importance, and I dont know because I regret I am unfamiliar with Kenya - but many places look at how much time you have spent together, your similarities including your ages and religions and how long you have known each other.

Good luck to you! We are all on a difficult journey of wanting to be with our loved ones as fast as possible!
