How do I know if I need both I-134 / I-864 forms? Do they send the I-864 in the packet or something? I already did the I-134, but I read that the US consulate in Australia will require both forms HERE

Should I have both forms and all supporting documents ready for him early or should I wait for the packet first? I already did the I-134 and I already have all the paperwork neccessary, but I wanted to check and see how this part works and if I can better prepare. Will he need that for the interview? I thought that he was supposed to do the I-864 when he actually comes to America.... Gah do I think too much?

It never hurts to download and fill out forms. Sooner or later you will need the documents required for immigration and it is a good idea to begin collecting and organizing your documents. Just a thought.

Although, for example, I would prefer waiting on the letter of my employer, my pay stubs, etc., so that they are as recent and close to the interview date as possible. As for filling out the forms, I agree with beameup.

However, preparing in advance to get these documents organized or ready is probably also a good idea.

Rings,

Where is "HERE"?

- I-134 is used for non-immigrant visas, including the K visas, at the discretion of the consular officer.

- I-864 is used for immigrant visas and adjustment of status. It cannot be used for the K visas.

Your other post confused me.. where did you see in the Guide that you need both?

Which visa will you apply for?
