Someone please help

My fionce has an upcoming interview. Her mother has just recently also recieved a visa because her other daughter is a US citizen ( i forgot what they call that type of visa) my main concern though is that her mother did not recieve any brown envelope. I understand that in k-1 visas they do give a brown envelope that they must hand carry and give it to the immigration officer at the Point of entry. My question is that is this "brown" envelope only given to people issued certain types of visas like k-1 and k-3 or are they given to everybody that is coming to the USA for the first time on a new visa?

we are all panicing so if someone could please help i would appreciate it

The brown envelope is for the K-1 visa. It must stay sealed and will be opened by immigration at the POE (Port of Entry). Your fiance's mother was probably issued a tourist visa....and would not have the brown envelope. Calm down, nothing to worry about. Good luck on you upcoming interview!

Don't panic - this envelop contains all/most of the documents and forms you (and your fiancé) originally submitted. It is normal for these types of visas. Other visa holders my only receive a stamp in their passport

If your wife's mother received an immigrant visa (i.e. Greencard) then she should have received an envelope. If it was just a tourist visa, then no she would not have received an envelope.

I am still confused, she is supposed to recieve a green card on POE. Some ppl are saying she should have a brown envelope some are saying she should not. i dont know what they call her visa ie k-1, k-3, ir1 etc. but it is the one that a parent gets if one of the children become a US citizen. But she did not recieve a brown envelope though only a visa in her passport. Is something wrong here?????

If her daugher (already USC) has petitioned on her behalf I believe she will have been issued a IR-2 or CR-2 visa.

She should have received an envelope to produce at POE and just to clear up any misunderstanding you do not get issued with the GC at POE.

Once she arrives in the USA hands in her envelope this will generate her GC which will be sent to the address stated on the documentation submited.

Before you start to panic, please ask what type of visa she has received (she should know this if she looks in her passport), this helps people to give you the correct information.

As I said in my PM to you, she needs to contact the embassy to get the envelope sealed before she travels to the US.

Mom needs to go back to the Embassy and get it sealed up. There are usually two envelopes, one inside the other. She was to open the outside one with her passport and leave the other one sealed. It's totally fixable.

OK, well we're telling you how it *needs* to be when she gets to the POE. This is much easier to fix while still at home.
