when I call or e-mail them they keep responding with the same message  "Case is still pending Administrative processing". Case last updated July 18th.

In this case I am afraid that you will just have to wait until you hear back from them. I would make sure to email them once a week for updates. Another option is to get your senator involved as they might be able to get u more in depth details about your case.

Good luck

I got them involved last week and they sent an inquiry to the embassy but I haven't heard back yet.

Thank you.

it's just frustrating, if they received documents 3 month ago, why the case was last touched July 18th if it's not security?? sorry I know you don't have the answer but I'm just venting:)

Hi All,

After 9 months of waiting and wondering, we thought we finally reached the finish line with our K1 visa process, to our complete shock, we were put on AP, despite having everything that was asked of us, all the required documents, tons of pages of texts, viber logs, facebook messenger logs, whatsapp logs, pictures, anything and everything. Most of those put on AP out of Cairo have been on AP for months with no end in sight. I dont know what we should do at this point? Anyone been in this situation?

Everyone gets AP but AP in Egypt tends to last longer. My friend's husband was just granted his IR1 visa after having been in AP for two and a half years and he had mounds of evidence. I'm not saying that's how long you'll have to wait but be prepared for extended AP. Good luck and keep us updated.

You can call the embassy or get your congressperson involved. But nobody knows how long AP would take and nobody can expedite the process. The only option you currently have is to wait. I wish you good luck.

We are unsure if we want to wait indefinitely, since that seems to be what is happening with those on AP in Cairo. We are debating whether to get married and Ill move abroad and we can apply for the marriage visa.

Well, I afraid you have no choice but to wait. Applying for the spouse visa instead of fiance visa will not change anything. You still will be putting on AP with the same length. This is how immigration works, especially for those who are from Egypt (it's a high-risk country for the USA).

Thank you. I think we are ok with it taking time because we will be together and will work until we are able to come back to the US together. This isnt for sure the route we want to take but we have already been waiting for a very long time, our NOA2 took 8 months to come. We have only been reading negative experiences with being on AP out of Cairo, people have been waiting for 9 to 10 months and still havent heard anything from the embassy or given any guidance at all, we dont want to wait that long.

I understand you don't want to wait that long but unfortunately this is how long you have to wait dealing with the US embassy in Cairo. You can not speed this process up. Wait like others, otherwise ask yourself, why should you be given a priority over others who wait even longer than you? They are the same people with the same rights so you are in line with others.

Also, note that to file I-130 from overseas, you have to prove your domicile in the US prior filing I-130. This may be hard, since you want to stay overseas and you must present your income while filing I-864 at the NVC stage.

Saw several references to getting a senator or congressman involved, not likely to help and unless you have a LOT of juice, it will not speed things up.

While your AP may or may not be related to a background/security check, note that these take a long time and are going especially slow now across the government. This link gives excellent information:

It will change something, that we are able to actually start our lives together not be in limbo. We dont mind being put on AP after being married because we would have already started our lives as a married couple instead of being in continuous limbo and having no control of our future plans.

i really appreciate everyone's feedback, but I think those of you are mentioning the just "wait it out" dont realize how bad it is for those on AP in Cairo. People have been on AP for up to a year and arent receiving any guidance from the embassy, in that amount of time, they could have made moves on their relationship. The wait time is taking an emotional and mental toll on couples because there is no end in sight. Where as in other countries, people can see a consistent effort by the embassy to get people off AP in a timely fashion

Again, this is how the immigration process works for Egypt. There's nothing you can do about it. Immigration is your privilege, NOT your right. You can either take it and wait or do not immigrate to the US at all. It's your life and your choice.

being with a loved one is not a privilege but a right, especially if you and your partner are life abiding citizens, tax paying, contributes to the economy and society. sorry you see it in such a narrow way.

Seems like it's you're seeing it in such a narrow way. Again, in this particular situation (your fiance moved to the US) it IS a privilege for him, NOT his right, NOT like something that the US owns you or him. This is how the process works, no matter if you like it or not. Just deal with it or leave it. Yes, it is your right to be with your fiance. So go there and be with him, no problem with that. But to move him to the US you MUST play by the rules that US has set, NOT your rules or expectations. I am a USC for 5 years, I pay very high taxes here every year, I've been waiting for my wife here for 5 years to come, so I know what you're talking about. But again, according to the US law, it is NOT your right. So wait like others or do not wait at all.
