Why Send All Petitions to CSC?

Timeline

I've been looking at timelines for the past 10 days, just to get ideas. I can not imagine waiting 6-9 months for this first step to be over. But it seams like thats the norm for the California Service Center. I do not understand how Vermont could be processing these files in less then one month. Don't get me wrong, i'm very happy for those who go through Vermont, but it just feels a bit unfair. The United States is one country, therefor they should process in order it was recieved no matter what center. If Vermont has time to spare, why does all other Service Centers send to California? It just doesn't make any sense.

I guess my question is, does anyone know why TSC and other Service Centers send their files to CSC? I understand they don't process I-129F anymore, but why send it all to one Center when another seams like they are itching for work?

Any thoughts?

thanks

Harout

You and 80% of us ask that. It defies logic, but then again this is the government. I always thought it would be a good idea to have the processing location be determined by the 1st letter of the petitioner's last name. But that makes too much sense.

Because someone at USCIS had a brilliant idea that such a "division of labor" was "a good idea"l....and here we are.

I think it may have something to do w/ the fact that the VSC is not capable of handling an influx of petitions from another service center...i.e. not enough man-power if say Texas Service Center began forwarding all petitions there. Remember I-129F petitions are not the only petitions VSC handles....and they may be slower than CSC at processing other types of applications.

I know the system as is is seriously flawed when we see petitions filed at VSC breeze throuh in a few weeks and the ones at CSC sit and gather dust for over 2.5 months before someone looks at it....nothing to do about it but try to stay sane during the long wait.

Good luck!

I can only tell you that it is Bull$**t that one group gets them so fast and another is left out in the wind...I wish they just did things on a first come, first serve basis...but it is a flawed system and I am only a small inch in the system...waiting for it to catch up with itself.

EXACTLY!!!! I put the same kind of topic asking people why Vermount is quick when California is so slow!!! I agree that Texas or Nebraska could forward I-129F petitions to Vermonth and not to California. But people here in forum told me that Vermount is a small state that's why probably is so quick... But it is not point!!!

What do you think?

The process is fluid and ever changing. You aren't gonna like me telling you this, but things are actually much quicker now than they were 2 years ago.

When we filed, petitions processed at Nebraska were taking six to eight months.

Texas and Cali were a bit better. Probably three to four months.

Vermont has been quick on the I129F for ages. But they are slow on everything else.

Timeline

When we filed for our K1 in 2005, we filed in Texas and it was transfered to CSC because TSC was so backed up. According to the time estimator, it looks like our K3 is going to take just about the same amount of time to get approved this year as our K1 did two years ago.

Its a drag the process isn't quick, but it at least it hasn't gotten worse. In fact, it was *a lot* worse one year ago than it is now. They've improved quite a bit in the past year.

I understand what your saying Paula&Minya, VSC might be a small unit but if they can turn out 129's so quick, i believe they can handle just a few more from other centers to releave the pressure from California...

Good Luck to you two as well...

It's not 6-9 months at CSC. And why does the government do things this way? Who knows. Patience.

My estimate on 6-9 months was to have VISA in hand, you're right patience is the key and we're trying here, lol....

The only answer I've been able to get to that particular question is that it is done for national security. No further details could be given.

My jaw hit the floor.

you are absolutely correct, we are working on a letter now and i'll post the link to the California representative soon, so others may do the same.

In my opinion CSC and VSC both process I-129F petitions consistently .. CSC 90 to 100 days (consistently) and VSC less than a month (consistently) .. CSC just needs to play catch up, and then maybe they can consistently process petitions faster ..

I get your point CB and you are right. My take is this, im from Los Angeles California, my service center is CSC, so you can see how frustrating it can be for me knowing that Nebraska and Texas are sending it to California, therefor not only dragging Californians back, but also delaying Nebraska and Texas. Why, if im from Vermont, i can file today and get my visa tomorrow?

nobody really knew the answer to this, the only thing left at this point is to write to my representative, How much that will help is anybody's guess.
