Not sure if this is the right sub-forum, but to those who requested a change in social security status after getting their citizenship, how did you do it?

I went to ssa.gov but couldn't find resources. Is this something that I need to set up an appointment for?

Go to your local SSA office that offers "card services"  and update your immigration status. You do not need an appointment. Bring either your Naturalization Certificate and/or US Passport as proof. If your name has changed also bring the necessary documentation relating to that.

 

Search 'Social Security Office Locater", put your zip code in and then select an office that offers "card services". Wait at least 10 days after your Naturalization to update info.

Naturalization Journey (Based on 5 years as a PR):

November 21st 2016 - Sent N-400 to Dallas Lockbox.

November 30th - Check Cashed.

December 1st - Email/Text Notifications.

December 8th - Hardcopy of NOA received (Priority Date 11/25).

December 9th - Biometrics Appointment Letter received.

December 19th - Biometrics Appointment.

January 4th 2017 - "In Line" for Interview.

June 9th - Online status changed to "Interview was Scheduled".

June 12th - Interview Letter received.

July 19th - Interview (NYC). Requested a "delayed Oath" for after September 4th 2017.

September 11th - Oath Letter received. Honored my request for a delayed Oath Ceremony. 

September 14th - Oath Ceremony.
