Hi, can anyone tell me if I will receive a letter from  Nvc once my ds260 application is received? We submitted in April and haven't heard anything yet . Also can I check the status of my wait time somewhere or call? If anyone can give me an aproxímate time frame, for an appointment in CJ,please

You can check here for the status:https://ceac.state.gov/ceacstattracker/status.aspx

It won’t give you a wait time but you can see when they received it. I was told by my lawyer that it takes about 8 to 11 weeks to review everything sent to Nvc then it takes about 2-3 months out for appointment. I am only going by what my lawyer and others have told me. Good luck 🤞

I have a questIon for those who hve gone through the interview. It has me a bit confused. The birth certificate translation is only needed translated if it is not in Spanish or English correct. And how did you go about getting the police certificate for the US as I’ve been here since I was 3

We sent a copy of the birth certificate (spanish) and a translation (english) to the NVC for review.  At the consulate interview in Juarez, they asked for my wife's original birth certificate, but no translation.  All the interviewing officers in Juarez speak Spanish so I don't think having the translation was needed, but brought it with us just in case.

I'm not sure the exact rules of the police certificate depending on when the applicant came to the US.  Since my wife came when she was 18, it was needed by both the NVC and for the consulate interview.  I'm under the impression that the US checks your background by taking your fingerprints shortly after you've submitted your I-601a.   The biometrics check here in the US tells immigration whether or not you have a criminal history.

Maybe someone else who came as a child can shed some light on the subject.

I am in your same situation. According to the instructions a police certificate isn't required in our situation since we have been here basically all our lives. I know some will chime in and say that they do so I am only speaking from my experience. NVC didnt ask for one but I did send in my school records from as far back as elementary and immunization records showing dates of how far back I have been here. I also wrote something small explaining to them that a PC is not applicable to me for that reason. I didnt receive a checklist and am taking all this evidence in case a CO at the interview asks for them.

The interview checklist requires it. I spoke to my lawyer yesterday and he said to go to the sheriffs dep and ask for a fingerprint check. With the fbi database.

I am referring to the mexican police certificate. But I dont see why do that when you do biometrics already. This is a confusing topic for many of us.

Exactly if thats the reason why we had them done and will have them done in Mexico as well. I know the Mexican one is needed if you arrived after age 16. But they make it so confusing.

Do you know your NVC case #? I know that you must pay your NVC fees before sending your I601a. So I assume you have it. Also, isn’t the ds260 done online? How did you submit it? Our lawyer did ours online and emailed all the documents they requested. I’ve been getting emails from them this whole time. From when they received our approved i130 in 2017 until now that they are just waiting for our i601a approval.  We will be going to Ciudad Juarez in Mexico so our case number with NVC starts with CDJ.

So we don't have the NVC case number. Our attorney did the application for us online. I asked my attorney if we will receive anything stating they received our application, he said no. But two weeks out when we submitted, our attorney called us asking if we have received anything from NVC. So I'm alittle concerned now. And for some reason we had paid for our ds260 application when we submitted our i160a (Aug 2017)..odd because we didn't submitted the IV application. But it was paid for. The information I was inputting on the website was my MSC receipt#. Now I know I need another number. Thanks for replying with all this information. I will contact my attorney to get the NVC case number.
