Hello to everyone!

my fiancée is coming over in October on a K1 visa, hopefully. He is thinking of enlisting in the Navy Reserves or possibly going active duty. However we've read that you can't do either until you get your AOS. So my question is can he request an expedite to enlist? It'll also help him financially as I'm being sent overseas not long after he comes over/we get married and I don't think he can come with and I'm not sure of what money I'll be able to send back.

Since its not a time of war, I cant imagine they'd expedite SOS for military enlistment but you could try.

And if you're his primary sponsor, remember you agreed to sponsor him on your i-134. If you won't be here and can't help him while he's here, maybe you should hold off on the process until you're ready. It could take 4-6 months for him to adjust his status and remember there's a big fee attached to it.  Will he be happy here, alone, not working?

We held off to apply until my job told me my duty station would be secure. We were mostly through the process when I was informed that they were moving me to a base in another country. We're trying to find a way for him to join me, but he wants to enlist. The AOS is already paid for.

The part about them not expediting because we aren't considered at war was helpful though so thank you.
