The most we've been back for was 3 weeks. I think traveling with the family also changes the type of questions. He was grilled pretty good while we were still dating. He almost thought the guy wasn't going to let him back into the US not coming into Canada. 

 

Now we just get

Where are you going?  Arkansas

How long where you gone? 3 weeks are you bringing anything back with you. Lots of junk food.

Yep...sounds like my answer....

 

Thanks for the response, though.  I was just curious if you encounter any problems because as I know the US allows dual citizenship with some countries---from what I've read in articles and such, it seems most officers aren't exactly thrilled at the POE with it when it occurs (almost like they take personal offense or consider the person unpatriotic or automatically abusing the system or whatever).  So I wondered about those who stay for longer periods of a few months and their reception upon returning to the States.  

 

In January, I plan on travelling solo to Canada for roughly 5 months to take care of some things...I know what kind of questions to expect at the border---but I wonder if they'll give me any grief over my length of stay abroad even though at that point I would be returning as a US citizen.  Guess I'll just have to wait and see.

Oh ya the dual citizenship part is important you only say USC when returning. They do not like it if you say dual. To the US it's USC only for an answer, but we just pass our passports to them as we get to the booth. So they really never ask.
