I am no supporter of Richard Spencer nor believe in any of the vile junk that comes out of his mouth. But I dislike that somehow that have managed to take the tag "white nationalist" as their own, automatically it insults any white citizen who supports their country and tars them with the same brush.

So my in laws fly the American flag on their lawn, they are white and also voted for Trump. Seems like they have ticked some of the boxes in the "white nationalist" test, maybe they should take the flag down just in case it offends or threatens some snowflake.

Just for the record..I am very proud to fly my American flag and very proud to have served my country. Nothing to do with being White.

We may be blocked by glossary issues here. I don't think you want to take back the label white nationalist. It's pretty much taken. Same with black Nationalism.

The label should be taken back, white and nationalist should not be exclusive to the likes of the kkk. It allows them to make it look like their base is much broader than it really is.

You can be a nationalist as long as you are writing it and no one can see the color of your skin but the moment you step on the streets waving the flag and your color is seen you are automatically labeled as something bad. Doesn't make sense to me, your views didn't change when you stepped outside your home.

   I do see a certain amount of cognitive dissonance on display though, in the tendency to minimize or look past how prevalent the alt right is and what they stand for. While they may be a small percentage, they are a larger and more organized group than some people want to admit. I'm tired of seeing these comments that it's just a few hundred people. 

So who here in CEHST that you might consider more conservative has ever made an excuse for an extreme right group and their actions?  In fact I think you will find that most that have a bit of a conservative logical side condemn extreme groups from all sides whereas we see the opposite reaction from those with a more left wing bent.  So I disagree with your statement, as I think you need to look in the mirror relative to left wing extreme groups and stop trying to make some sort of moral comparison.  All Violent Extremism is Bad regardless of the political side it comes from.

    We've had a US flag on our front porch as long as I can remember. I've never once been accused of being a white nationalist. I think there's more to it than being a white person with a US flag..
