Single-payer is swiftly becoming the party line, rather than a deviation from it.

Four more Democratic senators, Sens. Cory Booker (D-NJ), Jeff Merkley (D-OR), Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY), and Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), have announced that they will co-sponsor Sen. Bernie Sanders’ (I-VT) Medicare for All bill.

Booker announced his support on NJTV news Monday afternoon, where he echoed comments made by Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) and others who have come out in support of the bill.

“You should not be punished because you are working class or poor…. I think health care should be a right to all,” Booker said. “This is something that’s got to happen. Obamacare was a first step in advancing this country, but I won’t rest until every American has a basic security that comes with having access to affordable health care.”

Shortly after Booker announced that he would co-sponsor the bill, Merkley announced he was joining his colleagues on Twitter.

I’m co-sponsoring @SenSanders' #MedicareForAll bill. Health care should be a right for all, not a privilege just for the healthy & wealthy.

“I’m co-sponsoring @SenSanders’ #MedicareForAll bill,” Merkley tweeted. “Health care should be a right for all, not a privilege just for the healthy & wealthy.”

Just hours later, Mic broke the news that Gillibrand, who has come out in the past in favor of single-payer, will also co-sponsor the bill.

Whitehouse announced his endorsement last Friday through a spokesperson, who spoke with WPRI.

“Senator Whitehouse intends to cosponsor this bill to move the conversation forward on single-payer health care,” the spokesperson said. “The senator will also continue to press for legislation to create a public health insurance option, which he co-authored with Sens. Brown and Franken, and has long supported.”

The senators join an already star-studded cast of co-sponsors. Last week, progressive darling Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) made the unsurprising announcement that she would co-sponsor the bill, and the week before, Harris, who is considered a rising star in the party, emerged as the bill’s first co-sponsor.

Bernie is right about a lot. Of what he says. Our healthcare is broken. By far the highest cost of any nation and one of the worst in the 1st world.

If we did single payer it would kill a lot of insurance companies. Also maybe big pharma would get more in line

Not saying his plan is the answer but Obama care sure is not and repealing it and not having something better in line is not the answer.

Also how many times did the repubs vote to repeal obamacare, when they knew Obama would veto.

Now that they have the power. They do nothing. Bunch of hypocritical corrupt liars.

I hope Trump does partner with the dems to fix it. I don't care who gets credit.

Ps if Hillary had not rigged the primary Bernie would be President today., but somehow some of.the brainless MDL still buy the Russian bull.

But I thought she was the Democrats savior for everything or was I mistaken?

It's funny how I have some good friends of mine who are Diehard Democrat and they are even saying it's time for her to go. My buddy is so posses right now because the Democrats are playing identity politics and not a solution or real message(his words not mine)

And I think a lot if us that normally vote the other way feel the same way about the pubs.

Trump is basically an independent that ran, as a pub. Everyone is fed up with the swamp and both parties

This is so true. I think the Pubs are infighting worse than my 4 an 8 year fight, which is bad sometimes. They need to stop doing that and get things accomplished for the good of all Americans. I have been firmly behind the Freedom Caucus in the past but quite frankly they are pissing me the f off.

I really wish I could run against a couple of the NC pubs in 2018. It is time for both sides to get off the party train and figure out what's best for all Americans. Because if we don't do it now voluntarily then in 10 years when our debt is $25T and we have tobatart cutting back like Greece then people will really not like it but we won't have a choice then.

Your buddy is just realizing this now?  The Democrats have been playing identity politics for quite some time.
