Hi guys,

About 2 weeks ago, my  fiance scheduled his interview for the k1 visa. The appointment would have been this Wednesday (9/13/17) but  today, he called Immigration Services to find out if he needed the appointment letter and they told him that he does. They also suggested that he cancel his appointment and reschedule once it has been received. He canceled it right then and there. That said, after reading some forum posts he found that as of May 2017 the London embassy has stopped sending letters. If this is true, he would be waiting for no reason. So, if any of you have recently gone to your interview in London with or without appointment letters, could you please let us know if the letter was necessary to continue with the process. And around how long did it take after scheduling did you receive your letter?

Thank you so much,

Krissy

Hi Krissy,

I never received a letter for my interview appointment, but your fiancé should have gotten a confirmation email when he made the appointment online - this is enough to get you in. When I went for my interview, the lady at the check-in kiosk just said "Can you give me your email, or confirmation page, please? I just need something to show that you've been invited here today".

Mine was in July, so it's recent enough to be an accurate account for you. Tell your fiancé to reschedule his interview, and print off the confirmation page and the email that he will get, and that will be enough to let him in.

Good luck - feel free to PM me if you have any more questions.

Chances are if he talked to somebody on the phone, it was the wrong people...the ones who handle visas for tourists, performing artists, nannies, etc. They have given the wrong information before because they assume the caller is for their unit. The Immigrant Visa Unit that has his case doesn't communicate except by email.

As stated, his interview confirmation when he booked online can be shown outside. BUT even if he showed up without it, they have a list of all appointments for the day and would find his name. The person on the phone has not worked the lines and doesn't know what happens out there.

Your guy can use his log in from before and pick a new date from what's available. He does not wait for the embassy to schedule and send a letter. Print the appointment confirmation letter.

Wow, that makes a lot of sense. Thank you for this information!

His next appointment is scheduled for next week Wednesday. We really appreciate your help.

I interviewed yesterday at London for a K1 and they took the confirmation page for my DS-160. The lady at the small tent out front has a list of appointments where you will be checked off using this and a passport.

Hi Reggie,

Sorry I am seeing this so late. Thank you for your comment. My fiancee did the same and we actually got approved on the 25th of September! I really hope your case is going just as smoothly.

Cheers.
