Hey guys, so really not having a good week. My fiance has to do the sputum test so that is causing a 6 week delay and now my fiance says she can't find her foreign passport. She seems have lost during her medical exam.

Her interview in Moscow is in 3 days. What do we do if she can't find it? We have a color scan of the photo page.

I read it takes three weeks or so to get a new one but what do we do about the interview if she can't find it? Should I have her call the us embassy in Moscow?

What a disaster! 😔

I don't think she will be able to proceed without a physical passport. Call the embassy and ask if she can reschedule her interview instead. Besides, you're waiting for the sputum test result which won't happen immediately anyways.

For my I-129F, K-1, AOS, EAD, AP and ROC detailed timelines, please refer to my timeline page :)

ROC filed on December 1, 2020, assigned to SRC, approved within 106 days on February 18, 2021.

My sincerest gratitude to all VJers, especially the late geowrian.

As far as I know there are no available interview dates. I know other couples who are still waiting to make a date.

She has to wait 6 weeks for the sputum test but it could be months until another interview is available.

Is there a number she can call and speak to someone at the us embassy (in Russian)? I have no idea how Russians replace a lost passport, in the us you can do it in a few days.

Probably the best option is to contact the local office which issues passports either closest to her OR in Moscow (if she has to travel there) to find out if they even to priority passport processing. If they do, then she may be able to arrange for it to be ready to pick up when she arrives.

I know the feeling. My passport (Italian) and my husband's passport (USC) got stolen on our way to my interview.   Together with all the other documents we needed for medical and interview.

The CO decided to go through with the medical and the interview even if we didn't have any document.

We only had our military IDs with us!! i don't know if being military made any difference.

So it's worth asking the embassy!

I don't know about Russia and their system. But soon as I got home I applied for a new passport; I said it was an emergency and I got in my hand literally in a day.

good luck!!

If your fiancé does not have or find her passport, I would proceed with the interview considering the difficulty with getting interview dates in Russia.  As you said, there will be a delay in Administrative Processing anyway due to the sputum test, which should give her time to get a new international Russian passport.  It might be a good idea to have documentation that she has applied for the new passport at the time of the interview as well if she truly thinks the old passport is long gone (I assume she checked with the clinic to see if they had it).  Make sure she takes the copy of the page with her bio information on it, and make sure she takes her Internal Russian Passport with her as well for identification purposes.  If there is an expedite for the Russian passport as @dentsflogged suggested, then I would take that route.

Hopefully she finds it, but otherwise, Good Luck!
