Hey there,

 

I was wondering if anyone has any experience bringing their child across on their K1 visa?

What documents were needed? I legally have full custody of my daughter and notarized written consent from her father.

Is this good enough or will I be asked for more?

You should consult a family lawyer in your country. With that you are OK to go into the US, but the main issue is when the father (or mother) wants the kid back and it can blow in your face, kidnapping allegations, etc. 

 

If the father gave written consent, it should be very specific, for instance. It should say he is OK with the kid moving permanently to the other country and you should establish visits to Canada and who is going to pay for that, etc.

I hope you have a court decree stating that you have sole custody and couple that with the father's notarized written consent. But as per @Coco8, not a bad idea to consult a family lawyer. Always good to have some kind of lawful document to avoid disputes.

ROC filed on December 1, 2020, assigned to SRC, approved within 106 days on February 18, 2021.

I had my divorce decree which gave me sole custody & guardianship. I was never asked for a letter from my ex giving permission. Good thing really as he had chosen to have no contact or contribute to our sons life and we have no idea where he lives.
