Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) on Sunday said it's important to understand the climate may be changing.

"There is things happening with the climate in the world that is unprecedented," McCain said on CNN's "State of the Union" when asked a question regarding why Republicans act as if climate change is not real.

McCain stressed the importance of nuclear power.

So we haven't had any Category 3 or above Hurricanes hit the US in a fair number of years but now we have 2 and its climate change fault. ####### over. Sorry I grew up in the Carolinas and we are used to them so this ain't nothing new.

When did the climate not change?

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

McCain is senile. The climate may be changing? No one that I know of denies the climate changes. When he says there are things happening that are unprecedented that is where I have to disagree. There have been both colder and warmer times in Earth's history than what we have now. There have always been hurricanes. There have been times with more and stronger hurricanes than we see today. So now the carbon Nazis are going to hold a senile man up as their new poster boy? Good luck with that.

But if he had run for President and beaten Hillary he wouldn't be senile, right?

He would still be senile. And not much better than Hillary.

Irma was cat 5 when it hit PR and USVI,  part of the US. We "got lucky" when it grazed the top of Cuba.

I personally don't feel there is strong data linking the intensity of storms to glibal warming but we need to wake up to what is happening in our environment.

See I can agree with you on that. I can agree that our environment is changing and to what extent that we are causing it I can't tell you that at all. But I see that a fair number of the alarmists out there are the ones pushing carbon credits and other BS like that. Which it makes me sick either way how we can't have an open and honest conversation about it instead of people being biased by money on BOTH SIDES of it.

Sorry I don't think we are aligned , I only meant that point in to hurricanes  as evidence of global warming is not a good argument do to lack of evidence at his time. There is overwhelming evidence that co2 levels, ocean acidification, sea and air temp increases are linked to what comes out of our smokestacks.

Now just a storm.

What does that have to do with anything? Many of those times were not even conducive to human existence. There is evidence that shows correlation between mass extinctions and climate change during several periods of earths history. Geological climate change is not pertinent to the discussion and certainly not what McCain is referring to when he says unprecedented. We are not discussing how the climate changes over eons, we are discussing how it is changing over a relatively short time frame right now.

Remember, there was almost 10 years without a major (cat. 3+) hurricane hitting the US from 2005-2015 so they couldn't hype the tenuous connection narrative they have created between global warming and hurricanes.  There might be another long pause coming up, so they need to get as much in as possible.  Sounds somewhat cultish doesn't it?

By the way, what Republican would deny climate change?  If they do then they are idiots, but I suppose McCain may be losing some of his faculties.  What is unprecedented about what is happening now?

Are you discussing global climate change or local. It doesn't make sense to keep interchanging these. Storms that hit the US are only a fraction of those worldwide.

You are aware that with the scrubbers that are attached to so called smoke stacks all that comes out if them is water vapor right? Didn't think so.

You are right, I am unaware of that fact, probably because it is not accurate.  CO2 and other gasses still slip though even though the sulfur gets scrubbed out.  Where are you seeing this revolutionary technology that can economically remove CO2?
