My initial reply of one month was way off! But I was referring to when it was first accepted, not approved.  My mistake! Mine was just about 6 months also, if you are not talking about the actual interview which was about two months later. Ours was about 11 months from first submission  to having Visa in hand.

The difference is probably the fact that I filed the I130 then turned around and filed the fiance visa. Fiance visas tend to be processed faster from what I was told. So I filed in December 2016 the I130 then turned around in February 2017 and filed the fiance visa. When I filed the fiance visa I later got a letter stating my I130 was closed because it was already processed under another matter which was the fiance visa. I called USCIS and they explained that the I130 and fiance visa were processed together and the fiance visa was no longer needed so my case would be under the I130 and at that time it had been sent to the NVC

Straight out of the movie Die Hard "welcome to the party pal"!!!

It all depends what service center you have been sent to. I noticed the person from Potomac was processed in 5 months because they got Potomac. Vermont is also extremely fast. Texas as others have mentioned is taking 8 months. Be thankful you aren't with the rest of us in slowbraska (Nebraska). I'm at 7 1/2 months and am not even confident I am going to get approved in 9 months.

Hello All,

I am a US citizen. I filed for my wife who is in her native country, India.

The I-130 is at the  Texas Service Center.

USCIS received my case on May 22nd 2017. Today is 9/10. That means 111 days have elapsed since then.

I tried calling the USCIS and they said cases are backed up and that I should call USCIS after 8 months. well, will it really take that long? I am not sure why it's taking so long.

I am US citizen, filing for my immediate spouse so I think this approval should be around 3-4 months? Can anyone tell or give an idea of how long it will take to approve?

Same as my case.filed for my spouse on may 9, wife in india, still waiting for approval .texas

No I didn’t request expedite. I have always had good experience with USCIS. I wonder how long should I wait before contacting NVC

That’s so lucky! Where is your spouse from? What service centre did your petition get sent to?

My spouse is from Turkey and the service center was Nebraska service Center.

Wow that’s really impressive speeds for USCIS, let alone Nebraska!

Fingers crossed for for a quick response from NVC for you too 🤞🏻
