Entered the US with a 10 year green card. Ex-mother-in-law's address was the address we used when we applied for visa/green card. We never lived there . Instead we got our own apartment. Lived there for a year then, got divorced then moved to a different address. Due to a whirlwind life changing events, I forgot to advise USCIS about the change of my addresses. In fact, I wasn't aware that I have to inform them. My ex never shared this info to me or not even sure if he is aware of it. It's been almost 2 years now and about to move to a new state, officially. I have 2 USC kids and about to get married as well (reason why I'm moving...again). Upon reviewing the possible removal or deportation and the effect of not changing my address with USCIS, this got me all worried. I just had a baby this year with my fiance. What's the best way to handle this without affecting my status? Only been here almost 3 years. If I advise them now, are they going to give me a hard time? Please advise. Did anyone go thru the same thing? Thank you!

Just file the AR-11 online within 10 days of moving to your new place since you are getting ready to move again---it's free and immediate confirmation of the new address received, so you won't get any "hard time" from someone.  No, it will not affect your legal status, and you will not be deported for it.  Lots of people forget to do this, or were never aware they had to.

Personally, I wasn't aware I had to update any address changes until I was getting ready to file for citizenship.  I put in the AR-11 only a week before submitting my application....I had been at my new address almost a year by then.
