Hey guys quick question. My fiance is in Mexico and I called on Friday to request an expedite because of the earthquake. If they ask me to provide proof of the "humanitarian situation" what proof should I fax? Do you think online articles fron cnn and fox news are acceptable? Will they even ask for proof of a 8.1 magnitude earthquake. I've gotten Noa 1. Still waiting in Noa 2. Just Called in 2 days ago for expedite same day as earthquake. Now I'm just waiting. Please let me hear anything you want to share. Thank You

Well, I don't think that the earthquake is that serious to be approved under expedite. Did it make any serious damage? As far as I know it was just more like underwater earthquake. Feel sorry for you, but they may not expedite your case because there's no life or death situation.

Does he live where the earthquake hit? Was his home and that of all family he could stay with destroyed? 

 

These are the circumstances I could imagine having a go at expedite might work and even then they could tell him to go get a hotel or stay in a shelter somewhere.

The building was destroyed. They have no running water down there right now. Hes staying with a friend. He said s whole bridge collapse and there is a storm approaching. It was a 8.1 magnitude earthquake that lasted 3 minutes so I do believe it was serious. I already started the letter but I was wondering what type of evidence should I send. I found several things online of the damage but then again they haven't even asked me for anything so I'm thinking ahead.

Well some articles might be a little helpful, but for all those things you mentioned you should be able to get some local evidence as well, I'd also get some scientific evidence of the magnitude of it, there's a website that tracks all that. And most importantly, prove that you live in that impacted region.

I'm staying in Mexico City and everything here is totally fine, but I know in Chiapas and Oaxaca there was damage and deaths.

 

There's never a solid answer on these things as they vary in their responses even for some of the same situations, maybe it depends on who is reviewing it.

Case says READY but consulate says case is not in system, I jumped the gun and booked an interview but they say its invalid until I receive the letter so I might have to cancel it.

Appointment Letter: Flew to Juarez just to get this, its actually 2 letters you need.

Interview Day: Jan 2nd   Interview Result: APPROVED

Tracking Number Received: Via email notice and website the afternoon of Jan 4th    Visa Delivered: Friday Jan 5th Mexico City

So for evidence I agree getting the data on where it was so you can show on google maps where his address that was listed on the application is in relation to the epicentre. Here is the longitude and latitude of the quake 15.068°N   93.715°W taken from the usgs website here https://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/eventpage/us2000ahv0#executive

 

Then local news articles will sometimes mention which buildings were destroyed.

 

If he rents see if he can get a notice from his landlord or a local agency stating that his place is no longer habitable due to the earthquake. 

 

So sorry that he was affected but glad he is ok.
