I think 1pm appointment for passport application is good, since it will be few minutes away from the oath taking location.

Please bring pen with you.

Hello, can I ask you if you had “estimate wait time” box on your case status page?

I applied August 22nd and still didn’t get interview date. Starting to be worried, since my “estimate wait time” was due last Thursday and now past due with the wording “We are taking longer than expected...”.

Hi,

Yes, my estimated wait time is 3 months until case completion. Since the day I applied, it has always shown that my case will be completed in August 2019, it never changed.  And everything seems to be on track. With the interview being scheduled in early June, I am hoping that I will be attending the oath ceremony in July. I think you will get your interview date soon.

My estimate case completion time was the same from the beginning too and never changed. It still shows June 2019, even though I don’t have the date of my interview yet...That’s why I’m a bit frustrated with all the misinformation from USCIS.

I did biometrics today in NYC. Initially (straight afterwards) my estimated case completion changed from March 2020 to January 2020. Now in the afternoon it says "we reviewed your biometrics" and my case completion changed again, this time to February 2020. One thing is clear, it's a long wait ahead it seems.

Under the biometrics it says "estimated wait time is 8 months" - what is that referring to?

I believe it's when the next action will take place. Possibly when your interview is schedule. My interview was scheduled close to the estimate I saw.

That makes sense - that is what I concluded also given that the interview letter seems to he sent one month before.

For the interview, what are required things you should take? The letter I received just says to bring in my wife's Birth certificate, Drivers license, passports and my green card. I have never traveled outside the states and my passport is expired.

I'm applying under 3 year rule and I read somewhere you need to take passport sized photos? The interview is at 26 Federal Plaza.

Hows the parking situation, as I'm planing to drive there. Any tips you can hare for a better experience?

Thanks guys!

Bring whatever is mentioned on the interview letter, and I would suggest as well any originals of documents you submitted with your application incase the IO asks to see the originals.  The passport being expired is irrelevant, you need to bring it for the IO to check any stamps/secondary identification.

You are not required to bring photos, although some people have brought passport photos to their interview on the rare chance the IO states the biometrics photo is "not good enough" for the Naturalization certificate...so to avoid the chance of getting RFE'd for photos later, some applicants walk with a set to their interview.  It's rare this will happen, though.

I interviewed at Federal Plaza as well.  There is public parking lots (paid) near the building.  Going through the area, you have to enter the building from Lafayette Street.  There is another entrance but it is clearly marked for "Non-USCIS Visitors".  Have you interview letter and ID ready, and then after showing them to one guard, you walk down a long corridor and end up in a section where it looks like you're passing through airport security.  They give you big plastic bins to place everything in, including belts/watches and change), and then you pass through the security scanner while your items are x-rayed.  Once you leave that area, it then looks like the lobby of any other office building (there is even a cafe on the other side of the elevator bank).

Thank you so much for the detailed explanation. Does the IO ask the Civic questions with the multiple choice or they ask a question and we have to give the best answer?
