I would schedule an InfoPass and go try to get an answer from one of the officers there. When you call the customer service line, ask to speak with a Level 2 Officer right away. They should be able to help you.

I had a different issue, but, I kept showing up at 26 Federal Plaza every few days, some days with an appt and some days without until one officer actually went out of her way to help me.

Be persistent. This is the advice I can give you.

Here's the thing though: I had a problem with my process and after numerous calls and visits and L2 calls and a bunch of service requests, I was always told the same thing: everything looks good and you should just wait.

When I got sick of it, I decided to keep showing up there every day and try to speak to an officer, etc etc.. Until one day an officer heard me come to ask about my case three days in a row, and volunteered to take a look at my case. She looked into it and told me that my file has been sitting in the wrong place for the past eight months (after my interview) and she physically went and took the file and put it where it's supposed to be. She also got me the oath notice while I was there that I waited for for 8 months.

Hope this helps.

Couldn't agree more -- be persistent!! When I was waiting for my AOS interview and post interview decision, I called numerous times and showed up with infopass. I would get different answers every time I went but I believe when you constantly remind them of your case, there is more chance they will do something.

Thanks. I hope you don't have to wait too long for your oath either.
I'm curious, did you file paper or online? Would you want to add your entry to the chart? I can help with that if you give me your dates.

It seems like it's only a handful of us 2017 applicants still waiting for interviews.  I'm at 11 months and still no interview date. Hoping it comes soon!

Oh no, that's a rough wait. I hope it will be all done for you before the year ends. I filed on paper December 7, 2017. Yes please add my timeline to the chart.

LONG WAIT! Never got the inline for interview status

Interview scheduled: 8/26/2018

Saw my interview notice in my documents online, haven't received a physical copy yet

Interview Date: 10/04/2018

Are you able to see documents online even after filing paper? I filled paper and on this websites:

https://egov.uscis.gov/

There is nothing but just case status.

But I also opened an account here:

https://myaccount.uscis.dhs.gov/

After I heard you check your status there even after filing paper. It is true, I can check my status there, but I see nothing more that the first website.

I'd appreciate if you could point us in the right direction on where to see notices online after filing paper.

Cheers!

Hi Yea i was able see my interview letter and print out to take with me to the interview. Every letter they've mailed is in my documents section. A few other members have said that they were told receipt numbers starting with NBC doesn't work for this system.

 When you go to your account are you able to see estimated completion time? i you are click on that section and it should open up to show you the rest of information.

I have an NBC number, so for me it says nothing more than the egov site. I'm not given an estimated completion time either.

I assume you are checking at the DHS website, correct? Do you have an IOE number? That may explain the difference.

Thanks,

Ash

well yea that would explain it my receipt number starts with IOE, are you applying based on 5 years or based on 3 year marriage?  I often wonder the difference between IOE and NBC

Hey @876girl,

Thanks. Which rule you file under doesn't designate your receipt number. Receipts number are based on centers and the type of benefit/application. Here's a list:

– EAC – Vermont Service Center;
VSC – Vermont Service Center;
– WAC – California Service Center;
CSC – California Service Center;
– LIN – Nebraska Service Center;
NSC – Nebraska Service Center;
– SRC – Texas Service Center;
TSC – Texas Service Center;
– MSC – National Benefits Center;
NBC – National Benefits Center;
– IOE – ELIS (e-Filing); and
– YSC – Potomac Service Center.

IOE is typically seen when you filed online. However, I do recall others noting that they paper filled, but got IOE receipts, similar to you. That would then explain why your DHS account has the additional information, compared to my NBC receipt.

Cheers!

Hi,

I had my interview this morning at Fed Plaza. Everything went smoothly and I left with "Congratulations" box checked on the N-652 form.

I brought way more documents than necessary with me, but all the officer asked for was the passport, GC, and driver's license.

He was pleasant from the start and become friendlier as the interview progressed.

I arrived to the building about 45 minutes before the appt time, and since it was very early in the morning security didn't take too long. My guess is that later it can become quite time consuming, so people should take this into consideration. Checked in about 30 minutes before appt time and was called in approx. 45 minutes after appt. time. Interview lasted no more than 20 minutes.

My case is very straightforward. Got my GC based on marriage but since I have had it more than 5 years I applied for citizenship based on 5 year rule. Nothing negative in the file, no really long trips outside of the country, etc. so interview was very smooth.

Officer told me to expect notice about oath in 2-3 months (maybe faster but he does not want to over-promise).

Waiting for the next step.... I appreciate all the info I got from VJ over these past several months.

I hope you are correct, but I also see that you are not in Manhattan, so I think the oath schedules are not the same?

Hi. I also had my interview on Aug 28 at Federal Plaza in the morning so we were probably there at the same time.  I also live in Manhattan.  I was called for the interview 15 minutes past the required time so was pleasantly surprised as I had heard of a longer wait time. I had my green card via employment so the questions were standard around my application. I had changed my job two months ago so provided a job letter and was asked for proof that I had not moved out of NYC. (The office is not in NYC and I commute weekly for work). I provided a rental letter from the building for the month of August as proof that I was still a resident of NYC. I also submitted my 5 year tax returns.

The quiz questions were as follows:

Who wrote the Declaration of Independence?

Who is the President of the US?

Name 3 of the original 13 US colonies?

Who is the Commander in Chief of the Military?

What are the two political parties of the US?

What is the current political party of the US President?

At the end of the interview I was given the N-652 form with "Congratulations" box checked. I was told verbally as well that I had passed the interview and that the oath ceremony can take up to 120 days.  That is much longer than the estimates being provided to others but am hoping  that its the outer range and I get scheduled faster than that.

Since the interview there has been no update to the status online. It still says I am scheduled for an interview. Does anyone know the timeline for getting the update and for the oath ceremony?

 Thanks

Congrats! Did they ask for the job change letter (offer letter I guess) ? What questions did they ask about your job? Thanks.
