Had my oath today and it was a wonderful experience. We were 160 people from 53 different countries. The ceremony started at 11.30 and we were out by 12.00pm. Everything was organized and the judge was very polite and congratuled all of us. Uh? Only half an hour? Other people said it takes 2 or 3 hours from when you walk in and when you exit. t what time did your letter say to arrive?

Well I guess it depends where u have your oath!

my was at 500 pearl street. The letter said to be there by 10.00am and I got there at 9.50. Between the line in security to in the building and the line to leave your electronic devices and the line to actually get into the room where the ceremony is going to be held it was almos 11.00am. They take the oath letter give you a large envelope which contain registration to vote, a passport application, and the instructions of the ceremony. You take a seat and wait for everybody to be seated. The judge come into the room said a small speech and start calling your name to give the certificate and that is all. It's a very straight forward ceremony and they waist no time. I was already eating lunch with my husband by 12.00.

again I'm referring to my experience only I don't know about other people's experience.

Of course it happens in a group. All the people there recite the oath at the same time. They only call you one by one to give you your certificate. Once you have your certificate you are good to go.

However, from the time you first enter the building to the time you actually leave the building with your certificate in-hand can be anywhere from 1 hour to 4 hours - depending on the amount of people and how fast they are being processed.

My husband and I got to the building 9.50am. There was a long line and by the time we passed security and leave our cellphones it was already 10.25. Got to the actual room to where the ceremony was gonna be held and the line was outside the door. They were taking the appointment letters to everyone. We sat down waiting for the judge. The judge came in it a few minutes before 11.30 said a speech congratulated us and inmediatelly after that they started to call our names. Got my certificate and was good to go. Yes you could say it took me less two hours to be naturalized!

Hi guys I am October 2017 filer from Long Island New York. Isubmitted my form under 90 days before rule.for 5 years of residency. I  have got my fingerprints done on November 10th 2017 .and still waiting for interview date to be  scheduled. No news no updates on online status check. What do you think ? When will i receive my interview letter? Any predictions ? Thanks

Does anyone know if enforced additional days spent out of the country can be ignored from the days out of the US in the case of a valid medical reason, where not fit or permitted to fly, with multiple hospital and physician letters for a rather serious unexpected and freak condition?

CR1 / DCF (London): 2012 / 2013 (4 months from I-130 petition to visa in hand)

I-751 #1- April 2015 [Denied]

 

April 2015 : I-751 Joint filing package sent fedex next day 09:00am from UK ($lots - thanks). 
Jan 2017: Notification that an interview has been scheduled at a local office. Bizarrely still no RFE... 
Jan 2017: 2hr wait, then interview terminated before it began, due to moving my ID to another state 2 wks prior. New interview 'in a few months...maybe.'   Informed them that divorce proceedings are underway, but not finalised at this time. 
March 2017: An Interview was scheduled - marked as no-show as they didn't actually send out a notification of interview. FML 
April  2017: Filed an official complaint with the ombudsman, and have requested Senator & Congressman assistance
August 2017: Interview - switched to a (finalised) divorce waiver. Told that decision will be made that afternoon, but no problems foreseen with my case. 
October 2017: Letter of Denial received - reason given as 'I-751 petition was not properly filed'. Discovered ex-spouse made false allegations to USCIS in 2015. No opportunity given to review & refute allegations  - contrary to USCIS policy.

I-751 #2 - Oct 2017 - Mar 2021[Denied] 

 

October 2017: Within 72hrs of receiving denial notice, a new waiver I-751, divorce decree & $680 cheque, sent to Vermont via FedEx overnight 9am priority.  
Dec 2019: Filed FOIA request for full A# file
Feb 2020: FOIA request completed - entire A# file received as a .PDF; 197 pages fully redacted, and 80 partially redacted. Don't waste your time!
March 2021: I-751 #2 denied for lack of evidence. No RFE, no interview, and evidence in previous I-751 not reviewed - contrary to policy. Huge errors in adjudication.

N-400 - Feb 2018 - Apr 2021 [Denied]

 

February 2018: N-400 filed online.  $725 paid to the USCIS paperwork wastage fund

February  2019: Interview - cancelled after a four hour wait due to 'missing paperwork' on their end. Promised Expedited reschedule.

March 2021: Interview letter received, strangely dated after I-751 denial. No I-751 interview conducted. N-400 interview and test passed, given 'cannot make a decision at this time' paper due to the ongoing I-751 nightmare...

April 2021: N-400 denial received citing recent I-751 denial as basis for ineligibility, even though it should have been a combo interview 🤯

I AM JACK'S COMPLETE LACK OF SURPRISE

Service Motion - March 2021 [Sent via FedEx & COMPLETELY IGNORED by USCIS]

 

March 2021: Service Motion request sent overnight addressed direectly to field office director, requesting urgent review and re-opening, based on errors in adjudication - citing USCIS policy, AFM and memorandums as basis for errors. This was completely ignored by USCIS.

 I-751 #3 - June 2021 - Jan 2024 [Denied]

 

IT'S GROUNDHOG DAY

June 2021: I-751 #3 (30+lbs/5000 pages of paperwork) & another $680 sent to USCIS via FedEx ($300+..thanks) .... 

June 2021: Receipt issued, card charged, biometrics waived, infopass scheduled for I-551 stamp number ten.....

Feb 2022: RFIE (no, not an RFE, a Request For Initial Evidence) received, for copies of the divorce paperwork that they already have 😑

July 2022: Infopass for I-551 stamp number eleven.....

August 2023: Infopass for I-551 stamp number twelve....

January 2024: Denial received, ignoring the overwhelming majority of the filing, abundance of evidence, and refutation of a provably false allegation. The denial also contradicts itself in multiple places, as if it was written by someone with an IQ <50.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

 

2024: FML. Seriously. I'm done.

My journey came to an end today at the special Oath Ceremony at New York Historical Society.  59 countries 201 people were sworn in by Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.  We got a nice welcome package from New York Historical Society including free family membership and some small gifts (books, flags etc).  It took about 1.5 hours to check all participants in and we were sit at the specific seats with our names attached on the chairs.  Then, the USCIS deputy district director guided us with the process before the ceremony started at 11 a.m. with the presentation of colors by honor guard and so on.  We were called to get on the stage to receive our certificate one by one and the ceremony ended before noon.  Since this was not at the courthouse, we were allowed to have our phones and I took several pictures during the ceremony.  

 

I thought I wouldn't be excited but the whole ceremony got into me.  I was smiled the whole time.  I wish all ceremonies would be done this way.  For those who are still waiting for your oath, good luck.  I hope you get the one one.  

 

p.s. one note to guests.  I know that the whole families are excited that you will become US citizen but it is better not to bring small children to the ceremony if they can't sit and be quiet during the ceremony or you can stay outside of the auditorium with the kids once the ceremony starts.  The whole thing will take several hours.  It's not easy for kids to stay still.

Fprints:  Date assigned for fingerprinting (Bio-metrics). If you do your biometrics via walk-in prior to your scheduled appointment, please enter the date in bold blue.
In Line: Date you received e-notification about the start of your interview scheduling.
Int Ltr: Date you received the official letter in the mail regarding interview.
Interview: Date of your interview.
Oath: Date Oath taken.

Field Office: Your local USCIS office where you will have the N-400 interview.
