hi everyone! I'm a march NYC filer, and does anyone have stats on how long it takes to get your application processed? I noticed that last year was much faster but wondering if this year is even slower. When we initially consulted a lawyer, he said that it'd take over a year. My application is giving me about a 9 month estimate, but am hoping that it won't take that long.

would love to hear any other applicants' experience/timeline.

many thanks!

How did you file your application?

im a paper filer NYC field office and it took my case 10 months from start to finish

I filed mine online. Curious what month did you apply? I've been told that March - April tend to be the busiest and it takes longer. But that just may be lawyer lingo

I applied back in June 2017 and I'm having my oath ceremony tomorrow at 10.00 am. That's exactly 10 months.

dont relay on the estimation time and on line filers are usually done in less time than paper filers.

be patient my friend you just filed last month there are people here waiting over a year for an interview date and many more waiting months for the ceremony date and be done with these process once and for all

I am glad your got sorted out , lets hope you get it soon. My IO was someone who never did interview before and mine was her first interview thats what i felt the way she Was going through stuff and wondering what to

do next and speaking with her self .

Did you went to the LI USCIS field office ?

I went their for interview and infopass  and the lady their on first infopass she said you are recommended for approval , once the super review you will probably get a letter in 30 days for oath.  Second infopass was another gentleman same response 30 days wait , on third infopass same lady again oh your file is in the slow system and it was kind of on hold for a while and now it scheduling oath but very slowly and you have to wait (I couldn’t believe what she said because last time her response was different so i asked for supervisor & supervisor said we are migrating to new software and ur file is new system and it slow and so on . It’s hard to believe  what she said.

Yes last week i emailed Senator office and got a response after 3 days that they will contact USCIS on behalf of me and asking for response and she will let me know .

I didnt went for attorney yet but that will be the final solution before giving up 😂, i wish their was some transparency in this process .

Don't Give up! What is your current case status online?  My office is Holtsville Long Island. Is this your office also? Until I receive the oath Letter nothing is 100% with this broken system.

wow I'm so sorry is taking you that long to finally be over with this stressful process.

your file might be in the wrong desk somewhere. You have to go where you had your interview and ask to speak with a supervisor.

Had my interview in February 27 and in exactly 2 weeks later they schedule my oath for April 6.

Hope you hear something soon

When did your status change online after the interview?

So that's same as me. I really do not have high hopes for this as everyone in the LI office seems to be waiting. :( the system is broken beyond repair.

I am so sorry this is the situation. Did you try contacting a senator's office? Yesterday I filled out an online application and then got an email back to send additional documentation (receipts etc). Here is the link:

https://www.gillibrand.senate.gov/help/help-for-new-yorkers/request

I am desperate and will reach out to an immigration attorney if this doesn't resolve soon. Did you try getting an attorney opinion on your case?

Also I went to an infopass appointment today. The lady was nice enough to go get my file, and it turns out the officer that did my interview, FORGOT to do the reading and writing test. He FORGOT. She did it with me at the info pass window and I asked her not to put my file back with this guy because it's gonna sit on his desk for another 4 months. After supervisor's approval she said my application is now where it's suppose to be and not back in his office whatever it means. She said I still have to wait for the oath because they are backed up but I am hoping that now application will get processed and my online status will change in the next few days. Crossing my fingers that this is it.

Oh wow! How irresponsible can they be! I mean he had one job, and couldn't even get that right. I am glad you went to the InfoPass and were lucky to get a helpful officer because some of them will just tell you that everything is fine and you should wait. You should be hearing soon about your oath.

When I went and the officer that helped me told me that my file has been sitting in the wrong place for four months, she physically took it where it's supposed to be and she got me an oath notice that day.

Good luck and share the good news when you get them.

I wasn't expecting much when I went to the infopass but based on your experience, I wrote down a bunch of questions so I wouldn't forget anything and not be overwhelmed as the first time I went. I was sure they will sell me some basic BS again. Now I wish I requested the oath date from the lady since it was their mistake not mine that the guy forgot to do the reading and writing test! If he did his job properly I would have become a citizen months ago. We learn as we go.

Hello everyone!

please paint me red🇺🇸🇺🇸

Had my oath today and it was a wonderful experience. We were 160 people from 53 different countries. The ceremony started at 11.30 and we were out by 12.00pm. Everything was organized and the judge was very polite and congratuled all of us. I am so happy to be over with my journey. Wish you all the best and for those whom are still waiting hang in there your time will come. Good luck everyone!!!
