Congrats! I was able to see the interview notice in my account under documents the same day itself. Usually it's there within 24 hours.

I received the hard copy in mail in about 3-4 business days.

Awesome. Thank you. I have not received the hard copy letter yet. Does it usually take more than a week?

I had my interview yesterday at Federal Plaza and I passed the test, but I got decision can not be made at this time letter. Did anyone else receive this?

What was the reason why they couldn't approve you?

No, he actually said that everything looks good, and that he just needs more time to review my file. He said I should probably hear in couple of weeks, but I see here people waiting for months, so I am getting worried. I got an email this morning saying action is taken on your case, b ut when I log in there are no updates.

That happened to me also. I received an e-mail the following morning around 7 that they had taken an action but when I logged in it was nothing lol. I think that was to put in the system that we did our interview lol.  There should be nothing to worry about yours, it's their standard procedure. I did my interview 2 weeks ago at Federal Plaza, I was approved on the spot. My case status still says oath ceremony will be scheduled. I feel you this whole waiting when it comes to immigration just kills us slowly lol.

Weird thing I just remembered is that when they were assigning the officer to me, the girls working behind the counter were like you think [officer's name] can do this one? Yeah lets give him a case. Could it be that he was one of new officers and couldn't make decision on his own? He asked me some weird questions that made me thing that he hasn't done many of these before, and on one occasion I had to guide him through application (he didn't know I had to provide names of all places I worked at so he asked me why did I name the companies I worked for and why I was unemployed when I received my Green Card in 2015).

Maybe he is new or maybe not but these officers are trained for sure before they start interviewing people, every officers have their own way or style of conducting interviews. If they cannot make a decision, they review your file or send it to their supervisors for further review or background check. They have their own set of procedures that we don't know about to make sure everyone they approve are eligible to be naturalized.

I had my interview for N400 in Brooklyn office. The officer said that she is not going to make a decision at the moment and I should receive the decision later. So I received a paper mentioning a decision can't be made...

I was wondering if anyone has had the same experience recently and what is the time frame that I should expect for my case to be approved and oath ceremony being scheduled?

It will likely be between a few days to a few weeks, this seems to be typical -- it could however be up to a few years (like me!). Don't worry, this is pretty rare.

Do you know why they'd make you wait years? Do you guys have kids?

No idea. I'm guessing my file was just under a stack of dusty paperwork or something, as my case isn't complicated, and yes, we have a kid.

Oh wow. That is just crazy and scary at the same time.

How should I contact them to follow up? The phone system doesn't connect me to a representative.
How long after the interview should I contact them to follow up if my case is not approved yet?

I'd wait 120 days, as if you contact them before that, they will just tell you they have up to 120 days to make a decision.

How long has it been for you so far?
