Oath ceremony today at 9am in Manhattan 🎉

Didn't expect it to take just 15 minutes. I traveled abroad between interview and ceremony, and it  was not a problem as I had returned more than 14 days before the ceremony.

@Gijo12 Were you also in room 102? I was looking around wondering who you might be :)

Is it 15 mins including waiting? I am trying to plan my day and see if I can still pick up my kids from school afterwards :)

This happened to me! My oath ceremony notice never got displayed on my documents tab but I received it in the mail 5 days after my status changed to “notice was mailed”.

i think the online system is really screwed up but it will come in your mailbox!

Congrats!!! I know right it was quick. I was standing at like number 4!! So waited a little bit longer. It was still faster than I expected. Oath ceremony started right away once the room was filled with people (less than 20).

FYI room 102 is located in the lobby level behind  those elevators.

Hope everyone has a great week!!

Congratulations to you as well! (I think I was #9)

Also, I took a photo in front of the natualixzation ceremony sign and took of my mask for 10 seconds for the photo and they didn't seem to mind. Might be something you want to do as a memory ;)

Good luck everyone!

Does anyone know how to get a real person to talk to you via their live assistance 800-375-5283? I called and tried all the ways to ask for a real person but was told by the robot "there are many things our agent can not answer you but I can assist you .....(and of course she couldn't that's why I want to talk to a real person). In the end the robot just said "It looks like I can't help you so I will just end the call".

Thank you!! I used this link: https://egov.uscis.gov/e-request/Intro.do

And clicked "case outside of normal processing time" which felt justified because my portal had said "we are taking longer than expected to process your case" for like 6 weeks and then my case completion time disappeared.

  1. Estimated time range14.5 Months to 26.5 Months
Receipt date for a case inquirySeptember 25, 2018
  2. Thank you for your sharing and congrats!  The Brooklyn office has the timeline below. And how did you filled out your filed date? You filed in September 2019 ,I'm too. When I submit it indicated my case still in processing time, I can't submit successfully.

I had my interview today. Arrived at the waiting room, they signed me in, asked me to take my mask off for a second and took my picture. And finally, confirmed left + right index fingerprints and gave me a number.

When I was called into the interview office, the officer asked for my greencard and passport. Then they scanned every page of my passport that had anything in it. Has that happened to any one before? I'm guessing they wanted to confirm I met the criteria for presence as I have taken a fair number of vacations abroad over the last 5 years.

Confirmed my name and other identifying information. Then asked when I was last out of the country. I gave a range stating this month to next month, but they just wanted the answer to "when", so I gave the date the travel began. Didn't ask any questions about my travels beyond that though. Also didn't ask for any other documents like tax returns or my marriage certificate. I'm applying based on 5-years after employment based greencard.

Then went straight to the interview. Was asked 1) Name a branch of government, 2) Who is your is representative? 3) Who is the father of US? 4) How many representatives are in the House of Representatives, ... I don't remember the other two. Then the reading and writing test on the ipad.

Was then asked to take my mask off for a second. Then confirm some information on the ipad about myself. Like name, DoB, marital status, residence, etc that would appear on the naturalization certificate.

Then went through the questionnaire. They paused at some questions and asked me to explain what the question means. For a few of them, they didn't seem satisfied with my answer and kept asking. I got a bit nervous at this point and started looking around, and they were not happy about that.

At the end, the officer gave me a letter that had two boxes checked that said:

  • You passed the English, Civics, History, and Government test
  • A decision cannot be made about your application at this time.

I really tried to explain the meaning of the questions as they asked. I understand English very well but I have a bit of an accent and speaking through a mask doesn't help. Added to the fact that I got a bit nervous didn't help.

I'm really worried, what do you all think?
