Hi folks,

So I did my interview yesterday, nasty weather but the interview was sweet. Interview was at 2:15 pm, I got in to the building around 1:55,  went to the 9th fl, they sent me to 4th fl to the wrong room. Then people at the wrong room sent me to the correct room. I was called in within 5 minutes. The officer who interviewed me was the same guy who interviewed my mom last year in December. Last year, I went in as a translator for my mom and officer and I had a good chat about my study plans, career, and some scholarships, and he also told me about his college and his career.

I was obviously wearing a mask, so he couldn't recognize me, then I told him I have met him before, gave some details about the previous encounter, then he recalled it. The interview took place in such a friendly way, I never felt like I was being interviewed. We were discussing how the world is such a small place that we met again, he asked me how my parents were doing, my education plans, he also said that I should consider joining USCIS after school.

He asked me 6 civics questions, and standard yes/no questions that are listed at the end of N-400 application. Besides that, no questions at all. Nothing about employment, taxes. I didn't even took taxes or any documents with me except my green card and evidence of Selective service, we he said he already know about, and I don't need to show it to him. After that, he said you are all good and told me he has approved my application, then gave me outcome the interview on paper. He said, you'll be scheduled for oath in the same building(federal plaza). Then we said good bye to each other, and hoped we'll meet again at the oath ceremony. It only took me 30-35 minutes in the building. Yesterday my status showing was waiting for oath ceremony and today it changed to oath ceremony notice was mailed, I think it'll take some time for the letter to show up in the docs tab.

I hope y 'all get the same friendly treatment as I got, and hope you get your interviews and oaths soon.

I was temped to do it, but I declined. My first name is a religious name, but no one call me by my first name at home, my given name is my middle name. I still ask my parents, if you gave me a religious first name, why don't you call me by that name. And here in the U.S. my original name is lost somewhere. I wanted to bring my first name into middle and middle name as first name. I don't know if I'll ever make that change, I will feel a little guilt about it though, if I ever did change it.

No I did not request a name change. Nor I signed any papers. The only thing I signed was on the computer, were to confirm my details.

Did you request a name change, or are they just taking long to schedule an oath ceremony for you?

Yes, I requested name change,my officer told me the waiting time is the same, no matter change or not . I passed the interview, approved the interview and oath ceremony will be scheduled at the interview day. But I've been waiting for my oath date to mailed out for 8 days .
