Hey maybe i'll be able to debunk that "if you've had your GC for a long time it will speed up the process" thing.

 

I've had my GC since 1985. Yep, since I was 3 years old. My lazy self just never got around to do this until now. All schooling / lived here my whole life. 

FIled with Texas Lockbox : sent 11/28

Cashed: 12/4

Letter received: 12/7

 

Waiting for biometrics. The wait time listed online says 12 months! YIKES!

Want to note that i've had biometrics done yearly for the past 16 or so years. First 15 for working at an airport / airport clearance and most recently to work at school. Wonder if that would make the background check easier.

I'm still waiting for my Oath ceremony. ( My interview was on November 1st) When I asked the IO after she gave me congratulation letter when I will get Oath. She said within a month. But now more than a month passed and no update. I emailed to USCIS customer service the replied that one they scheduled a date a letter will be mailed. ( A formal response). 

My online status is we put you inline for Oath and we will mail a letter.

My husband is in line for oath!  9 days after being "recommended for approval" in his interview. We live in Manhattan so went to that office at Federal Plaza.

Finally, today I received a case notification from USCIS that my interview was scheduled. I do not have the exact date yet as the PDF letter has not shown on my ELIS account. Based on people's experiences, I should give it a day (24hrs) or two until I see the letter. :)

E-FILING (IOE) N-400 APPLICATION FOR NATURALIZATION

09/06/17: Submitted N-400 Application Online

09/06/17: Received online NOA with receipt number

09/08/17: Received Biometrics Appointment (PDF) Notice

09/12/17: Biometrics Appointment at USCIS Manhattan (Early Walk-in 2 weeks; actual date is 09/26/17)

10/26/17: ELIS Status shows "USCIS has scheduled your interview appointment and will mail you the appointment notice."

12/09/17: Received a case notification from USCIS that my interview WAS scheduled

01/17/18: Date of N-400 Interview (7.15AM) at 26 Federal Plaza, New York City

01/19/18: Oath Ceremony Notice (PDF) received

I'm in the same boat - interviewed and approved on November 1st and still waiting for the oath letter, with no changes in status online. The IO in my case told me it would take 8 weeks but he wasn't clear whether that meant I would get the letter in 8 weeks, or that the oath would be in 8 weeks. Given that it's almost the middle of December, I'm guessing it will not be until next year now. Sigh.

Had my interview earlier today in the NYC office (technically Brooklyn Field Office), but located in 26 Federal Plaza like all the other NY field offices.

 

Interview was scheduled for 9:15am, and I arrived at 8:45am as recommended. By the time I was through security and got to the correct office / floor, it was probably 9am. After checking in, I waited for about 45 minutes in the waiting room with several other people. Note: my wife came with me, and we were both able to be on our cellphones.

 

 

After 45 minutes, got called to the interview by the interviewer, who walked me to his office. After confirming to be under oath, I sat down, and he asked for my ID, green card, and passport. I lost my passport >5 years ago, so I told him that (and that I didn't travel internationally since). He was alright with it, and said that since I didn't travel, then no worries.

 

We then proceeded to the "history test" as he called it. I answered the first 6 correctly ("what did the declaration of independence do?", "how many supreme court judges are there?", "name one branch of the government", "who becomes president if the P and VP can't serve?", "we elect a senator for how many years?", and "what does the cabinet do?"). We then proceeded to the English test (read: "When is Columbus Day?", write: "Columbus Day is in October"). And finally, proceeded to walking through my application and yes/no questions.

 

The whole thing took less than 10 minutes, at the end of which, he told me that I passed the history and english tests, but they still need to run / finish their background check on me (I don't have any arrests or other complications, so hoping this background check is just a part of the regular, although I don't remember hearing that verbiage from other people on VJ). Anyway, he said to expect the oath letter in a couple of weeks, but may be longer because of the holidays. As soon as I left the interview, I received three emails from the eGOV website saying a status has been updated (to "Oath Ceremony Will Be Scheduled").

 

So now back to the waiting game, but happy to be this much closer to the end. I'll update when I get the Oath Ceremony letter and date. Best of luck to us all!

i did my interview Dec 4th at (26 Fed plaza queens field office), and IO officer said decision can't yet be made about your application, then Dec 15 i got text "your case in line for oath ceremony" then next day Dec 16 i got another text "Oath Ceremony Notice Was Mailed" my oath ceremony will be Jan 10 8:30am at 225 CADMAN PLAZA Brooklyn, i hope you will get your oath ceremony date soon. :)

The IO in my case told me it would take 8 weeks but he wasn't clear whether that meant I would get the letter in 8 weeks, or that the oath would be in 8 weeks. Hi Guys,

Merry Christmas. Got Christmas gift on Friday a text from USCIS my Oath ceremony letter is mailed. Online case status and USCIS account got updated as letter mailed with date and time but still the letter is not uploaded. Might be they were enjoying the holidays. I waiting for the uploaded letter to see the date and time to write here.\

Any update Tranquillity?
