I’m waiting on my biometrics letter. Can anyone tell me if I absolutely have to bring my GC and if I can go to the Manhattan ASC instead of the one in The Bronx?
I work in the city so would love to use my lunch break and do it.

Still haven’t received the letters

Thanks, I have received the notification exactly on November 28, later on, received the letter in the mail early December.

Another question! After the interview in early January, how long was it before you received notification about the date of the oath ceremony?

I see a couple of other people (Manhattan applicants) had interviews about 5-7 days after you but haven't received notification about the oath ceremony date yet.

I have received my oath ceremony letter the same day I attended my interviewed. At the end of the interview, the officer told me my case was recommended for approval. Then, she sent me to another room at USCIS to pick up my ceremony letter. Also, the same letter appeared in my USCIS account 2 days after. Additionally, I received a copy of the letter in mail the following week.

Wow, that was a good outcome!! Do you happen to have any idea as to how often they hold these oath ceremonies at Federal Plaza for Manhattan/Bronx applicants? A couple of people in this forum are waiting!

Yes! It was my lucky day! Honestly, I don’t know how often they hold oath ceremony at Federal Plaza. Mine is on February 7th.

Is there a way to call to find out what's going on? Your case was approved so I'm not sure what the hold up is. Surely they must be holding oath ceremonies on a regular basis given the massive number of applicants!?

I think the only thing to do is to wait patiently even though it’s not easy because the office is not accepting walk-in requests or scheduling InfoPass appointments. Each case is unique but if you have a straightforward case as mine you should be fine. There might be at least two oath ceremonies held per month.

First, I would say there is no need to panic. It says that the oath ceremony would be scheduled in 30 days ago. Second, I did get a notification two days ago that my ceremony was scheduled. The notice wasn’t showing up until today morning and it’s a month from now. Took about ~10 days for them to schedule one.

Great!! So about Feb 24 for the oath?

This is my first time to post about my case. I wanted to ask folks who've recently had their oath ceremony scheduled with the Federal Plaza in Manhattan but requested for a name change (so the ceremony will be with the judicial court), could you share your timeline?

I also wanted to ask what is the current US passport processing time, regular vs. rushed. I know the State gov has their published time but I wanted to see what the actual time is because I have several trips coming up both domestically (mid Feb) and internationally in April (one for work, and another to see my family abroad mixed with leisure). The challenge is I can't book my travel at all because the ceremony scheduling can happen anytime or can take a long while too. I also still need to apply for visas in the countries I'm traveling to (even with a US passport).

Here's my N-400 timeline in case it helps others who are earlier in the process:

January 6, 2020 - We approved your application. Your final step to becoming a citizen is to attend your naturalization ceremony
December 12, 2019 - You attended your interview
November 5, 2019 - We scheduled your interview
February 11, 2019 - We reviewed your biometrics
January 25, 2019 - We scheduled your biometrics appointment
January 24, 2019 - We received your application

I'd appreciate your input and thanks in advance!

Is it normal in New York to have such a long wait between biometrics and interview? I completed biometrics December 9th 2019 and wanted to travel in March but wasn't sure if things could be happening around then. Online it says processing will be 4 months...

AOS from K1:

02/01/2016 - AOS, EAD filed

02/25/2016 - AOS and EAD NOA1 (received 02/08/2016)

02/29/2016 - NOA1 hard copies

03/14/2016 - Biometrics

03/31/2016 - RFIE for AOS

04/06/2016 - RFIE received

04/11/2016 - RFIE evidence sent

04/14/2016 - Updated to say evidence received

05/17/2016 - EAD/AP approved

06/13/2016 - EAD combo received

06/16/2016 - Green Card Approved (no interview)

06/25/2016 - Green Card received

I think if a name-change is involved, the oath ceremony is at Pearl Street, not Federal Plaza:

https://nysd.uscourts.gov/programs/naturalization-ceremony-and-schedule

From what I've read, people get the expedited passports quickly (<2 weeks). In order to request one, you must be travelling within 2 weeks from the day you have the passport appointment.
