Does it matter if its online or by usps? I dont know if there is a difference. Which one is faster . i think both are the same thing.

From the table "mail vs. online" it looks like online applications process faster. Did you do finger prints? Check yours with others having the same time line in the table.

@Murattimy husband applies in aug 2017, and waited from sept 2017 when he done his fingerprints until June 2018 for them to schedule the interview for July 2018 ( On the upcoming 10th. )  on top of that, the case didn’t update when the fingerprints were done. so give it a few more months I guess. They are very slow.

I just received my Oath date, which is scheduled for July 17th. As luck may have it, I am leaving the country on the 13th and returning the 30th. I cannot change the trip as it is for a family emergency. I know everyone says you don't reschedule the ceremony, but I do not have another option at this point. Can anyone advise ? Has anyone requested it in the past with success? My case has not followed any normal timelines, for no specific reason, I assume I have been assigned to an agent that is taking longer than expected (passed my interview Feb 27th). I have even sent a change of address which they acknowledged by letter, yet they have failed to update their records even though it's been over a month. I spent the whole day trying to get a Level 2 officer on the phone, yet all 3 times that my call went through after a ridiculous wait (call back), the line dropped. I was then informed that they have closed the lines for the day due to the high volume of calls.

I even considered attending the ceremony and ask for an expedited passport the next day, but the family emergency is making it impossible, even if that was an option.

Hi everyone,

I'm a little confused and hope maybe you can advise. Case processing times that we can see at the USCIS website - do they mean from PD until interview date or does it mean the entire process completed including the oath?

for example - processing time 12 month - does it mean 12 months to get the interview scheduled or 12 months from PD to Oath?

Thank you in advance.

P.s. In case my timeline can help anyone here:

PD Sept 25 2017

FP Oct 24 2017

In line for interview Oct 26 2917

Nothing since then

So do you think "processing times" on the website mean from PD till interview date?

Hey

To be honest, i have no idea what exactly the processing time means.

I totally understand your concern since i have been checking the uscis status web page many time a day since august 2017!

It is frustrating when you see many people who become citizen within six months while you are still waiting and don't know what is the reason behind the long waiting time.

Just look at my case, I have waited almost a year and some of the people only took 6-8 months in this forum. However, there are also cases that took more than a year.

For example, there is guy who had interview last june and are recommended for approval but then wait almost a year to get the oath ceremony scheduled in may 2018!

I think the main reason that upset us is that there is no transparency in the application process. But i guess it should be operated in this way since it is a delicate matter (maybe national security?)

Anyway, as one of member in the june 2017 fliers has pointed out in the post, he asked the officer who takes care of his case and the officer told him there was a introduction of a new background check system but the new system has one big flaw, which almost everyone will pass the check and thus they have to check all the case in the old ways..

I Hope you will get updated in the next few weeks :-)

Hey thanks!

I don't mind waiting, my problem is that I travel a lot for work and most of the trips have to be confirmed 4-5 months in advance (therefore one month notice for interview doesn't really solve anything for me).

I have to be outside the county for work from the end of August till the end of September. Since my PD was end of September 2017 and many people from Brooklyn that applied in summer 2017 got their interview approximately 12 months after filing, looks like my interview will be scheduled sometime when I'm supposed to be out of town (sept 2018).

It says on the website that processing times start with 12,5 months, so, if it's from PD to interview, that means that my interview won't be scheduled until mid October, which would work perfectly for me as it will be really inconvenient to cancel my September trip. But since I don't understand what exactly they mean by "processing times", I get confused.

It's not the wait itself that bothers me, it's a lack of options in terms of planning ahead. I missed on a lot of international projects this year because of that.

I totally understand.

However, It is only a estimate so no one can be sure what time is your turn for interview.

My officer told me i will received a latter for oath within two weeks and I just received the update this monday, almost 4 weeks from the interview date.

FYI, I am also a brooklyn filer and there was no estimate processing time for brooklyn office. They add the estimate processing time for brooklyn in april.

You know you never know what would happen with this applicaton.

I actually filed a inquiry about my case online on march 2018, I got a reply in email saying that my case is within normal time range.

Then on May 7th 2018, I finally got a case update with my interview being scheduled. I then received  a letter from uscis on may 9th, but the letter is about the inquiry i made back in march.

:-O

If you have any chance or option you can get same day passport as well if you can show them the emergency nature and tickets as well. That is possible. So if you can manage to extend for another 4 days so you can become citizen and get over with USCIS. If you can postpone you can but might have to wait for another 1 month or so and in some cases it was re-scheduled shortly but since NYC and knowing the large numbers it's better to get done with it and not take any chances.

looking at your post, it looks like you have made up your mind with the decision. So good luck in either ways with your family emergency and as well with your oath.

Hi,

I greatly appreciate if someone with similar experience can give me some advice regarding the following,

A couple of years back I received a red-light violation in the mail. I did not dispute and just paid it. Later, I obtained a detailed driving record and also requested for any violations, but DMV letter came with no violation or citation for my car or myself.

When I read N400 application, I saw a question asking the following:

"Have you EVER been arrested, cited, or detained by any law enforcement officer (including immigration official or any official officer of the US armed forces) for any reason?  YES  NO"

Regarding my above situation, what should I pick? Is red-light violation considered as a citation?

Thank you!
