8.1 is awfully large.

At least five people died in a massive earthquake that struck the southern coast of Mexico early Friday, promting tsumani waves in the country that measured up to 2.3 feet.

The United States Geological Survey said that a magnitude 8.1 quake hit about 73 miles off Tres Picos, Mexico, along Mexico's southern coast.

Its epicenter was 102 miles west of Tapachula in southern Chiapas state and had a depth of about 21 miles. The quake was so powerful, it sent people fleeing from buildings 650 miles away in Mexico City.

Hey guys quick question. My fiance is in Mexico and I called on Friday to request an expedite because of the earthquake. If they ask me to provide proof of the "humanitarian situation" what proof should I fax? Do you think online articles fron cnn and fox news are acceptable? Will they even ask for proof of a 8.1 magnitude earthquake. I've gotten Noa 1. Still waiting in Noa 2. Just Called in 2 days ago for expedite same day as earthquake. Now I'm just waiting. Please let me hear anything you want timo share. Thanks

Does your finance live in the area primarily impacted?  I would think you would need more personal proof for an expedite such as proof their home was destroyed/damaged, or something like that to apply for an expedite.  You may want to look in the Mexico regional forum to see if someone has more experience.

Good Luck!

So you are saying he was injured in the earthquake?  There may be grounds to try and expedite the application.

Good Luck!
