I'm a green card holder for the last 6 years. I've been in the US since 2003. I will have to renew my driver's license soon. When I was out of status I was renewing/changing address just telling them my SSN they didn't required any further investigation as they do now.  This will be the first time I'm going to show my green card . I believe they had assumed I was a US citizen.  I am not. Now that I have the legal documentation as a LPR Will the application rise a red flag or an invertigation?

Thanks

The only way they would think you were a citizen is if you wrote it on the application form.

Why would your status raise a flag? I don't get it.

All they do is verify your status.. that's it.

As long as you have never indicated that you are a US citizen in any document or verbally in an interview, then you're probably okay. However, if you ever did infer that you are a US citizen, and there is a record of it, you could have problems for material misrepresentation. And that would be a serious issue.

I was registered to vote (against my will)  in the county where i applied. However, as soon as I realized I contacted the voter registration office and they removed me from their records. I have a copy of the paperwork signed by the office clerk and since 6 years ago my name hasn't ever shown up. I believe I signed something I wasn't aware of.

You may have a significant problem. This is not something to be resolved through advice on VisaJourney. You need the advice of a lawyer. You need advice not just on renewing a state drivers license but all immigration impacted actions that you might take, going forward.

It's good that you had your name removed from the voter's registration soon after it happened---keep that paperwork and make a copy of it for your own records as well.  If you never actually voted in the United States during those six years of being an LPR (other than in elections where LPR's *are* permitted to vote), then you should be fine.

Renewing your drivers licence is not going to raise any red flags with USCIS so long as you don't register to vote or fill out anything claiming you are a USC when at the Dept. of Motor Vehicles.
