Go for it (Diversity Visa). A friend of a friend managed to be selected for the Diversity Visa lottery while he was in the USA (doing bachelors degree) and he adjusted his status. Now he is a green card holder.

If you can remain in legal status all the time you can adjust status, otherwise you can go back home, do an interview at a consulate there and return with an immigrant visa. Of course, it's a lottery and you need to get selected first before any of that can happen... good luck!
