Any person that will apply for naturalization will do so on form N-400, this is voluntary and as a permanent resident is subject to public charges, which requires a sponsor (most likely yourself) of the 125% federal poverty rate, he can't receive any  government assistance.  Once a file is approved, the public charge restrictions are lifted and he would be free as a US Citizen to request any benefits and assistance that you think he might require.  As of right now if you are food stamps on your own without your spouse listed on the claim for benefits then he will not be subject to public charge and can freely apply for US Citizenship once he becomes eligible.  I hope this helps.

Hello so my husband has been a Permanent R for 3 yrs now I the wife I’m a Citizen and I got pregnant and automatically got Medicaid and other benefit but my husband name is NO where on my benfits only me and the 2

im worried that this whole public charge thing trump is rolling in will deny him citizenship we also applied for oboma care but never paid the first payment to use the insurance

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.
