The interviewer swore me in and started with civics test. Answered the first six right and he moved on to the reading and writing. That was over quickly too. Then he went over my application, verified all the info and asked me to verify my name, address etc and said the same info will be used in my Naturalization certificate. Once, i had verified the info and gave him my signature, he printed out the receipt and said he believes i should be approved and he will forward that info to his supervisor for final approval and he walked me to the waiting area.

 

Came home and within two hours , I got a notification saying my oath ceremony has been scheduled and will receive a notice in mail. Now waiting on the date for oath. The interview was very easy and smooth, IMO.

Thank you! I am sad to say that a decision cannot be made with my application yet. My appointment was at 12:40PM and was called in around 1:10PM. Right before we started, the IO warned me that he has allergies so he apologized in advance if ever he sneezes or his voice cracks during the interview. I thought that was interesting. 

 

We went ahead to do the civics test which I passed after correctly answering 6 questions. He asked if I want to change my name which I do I but the new middle name I want is composed of two letters only which he said may cause problems. I told him I am aware of it but I would like to keep it that way since everyone knows/calls me by that two-letter name. He wrote a note on my application that he warned me that having a two-letter name might cause problems in the future but I want to still keep it and had me sign next to his note. He also had me sign two other forms about the name change and then he proceeded to ask me how I got my green card.

 

I told him I am married to a USC but separated. I am applying under the 5-year rule. My ROC was approved in 2015 but for some reason, the officer asked me about my marriage and why I am currently separated from my wife. My wife has been coming back and forth from the Philippines since 2014 but we only became separated just before I applied for my citizenship. I was honestly not prepared for him to ask me about my marriage because I thought it's irrelevant since I am applying under the 5-year rule but I tried to keep my composure and answered his questions to the best of my knowledge. After that, he asked what I do for work. I told him I am currently a student doing my externship full time and will finish in May. He asked me how I support myself and I told him I have money from student loans and I have some money saved from when I was still working full time. He told me those student loans are evil and that I should be ready to pay for them once I'm done with school and have a job.

 

After all the questioning, he handed me a letter saying I passed the civics test but a decision cannot be made at this time. I asked if there's anything wrong with my application. He said none and that there's another interview after me waiting for him. That he hasn't had lunch yet and that he will revisit my application tomorrow and that I should just wait for a letter in the mail about the decision. 

 

I am honestly very sad right now. Has anyone experienced this lately? I know I have to wait but for how long?

I just like to say thank you to all of you to share your information on this forum. Today I had my oath ceremony and I become a US CITIZEN and I already applied for the US passport!! Go to luck folks

My wife had her interview at the Dallas office last week (4/11). she passed her interview and the letter said congrats, will recommend you for approval, however, as of today her status didn't change yet and still shows interview was scheduled. She sent a message through her USCIS account and received a standard status message. She tried to schedule an infopass but the earliest one available is on May 1st. Any ideas what's going on or what to do?

We are in exact same situation. My wife had interview on 4/4 at Chicago, we haven't heard anything so far and case status still shows "interview scheduled". The officer said that the oath would be scheduled in 4 to 6 weeks and that she would get a letter once a date is assigned. So nothing to do but wait I guess. Also, I don't think you'd get any new information with an InfoPass appointment at this time either, I'd wait at least a month before contacting them.

 

If you look at the previous cases, you will see that the time gap between interview and oath is all over the place. Some had the oath ceremony on the same day or next day after the interview. While for others it took up to two months. It probably depends on the work load and queue at your specific office, but average seems to be around a month.

We went ahead to do the civics test which I passed after correctly answering 6 questions. He asked if I want to change my name which I do I but the new middle name I want is composed of two letters only which he said may cause problems. I told him I am aware of it but I would like to keep it that way since everyone knows/calls me by that two-letter name. He wrote a note on my application that he warned me that having a two-letter name might cause problems in the future but I want to still keep it and had me sign next to his note. He also had me sign two other forms about the name change and then he proceeded to ask me how I got my green card.

 

I told him I am married to a USC but separated. I am applying under the 5-year rule. My ROC was approved in 2015 but for some reason, the officer asked me about my marriage and why I am currently separated from my wife. My wife has been coming back and forth from the Philippines since 2014 but we only became separated just before I applied for my citizenship. I was honestly not prepared for him to ask me about my marriage because I thought it's irrelevant since I am applying under the 5-year rule but I tried to keep my composure and answered his questions to the best of my knowledge. After that, he asked what I do for work. I told him I am currently a student doing my externship full time and will finish in May. He asked me how I support myself and I told him I have money from student loans and I have some money saved from when I was still working full time. He told me those student loans are evil and that I should be ready to pay for them once I'm done with school and have a job.

 

After all the questioning, he handed me a letter saying I passed the civics test but a decision cannot be made at this time. I asked if there's anything wrong with my application. He said none and that there's another interview after me waiting for him. That he hasn't had lunch yet and that he will revisit my application tomorrow and that I should just wait for a letter in the mail about the decision. 

 

I am honestly very sad right now. Has anyone experienced this lately? I know I have to wait but for how long?

I interviewed same day as your wife at the Irving TX office. My status was also stuck but they sent my oath letter on the 18th which I got on the 20th since I live just down the street from them. Has your wife gotten her letter yet?
